Corvettes is one of the rare kind of lines in which every new model is really updated, many others rely on competition and one-upping or stagnate

Yes. Chevy with the corvette, Porsche with the 911, Ford with the Mustang, and up to 5 years ago, Nissan (before financial troubles) with the GTR- have maintained that rarity for sure. Maintaining a nameplate/model and truly updating it with each new generation. 👏👏👏

@@ELY3358 Skyline GTR was the "Corvette" of Japan. It wasn't some high end/out of reach car, it was affordable in a working man's life. Used to be around 4.5 million to 5 million yen to get one. Basically equal to the $30,000-35,000 Americans would be spending on a C4/C5 Corvette around the same time. The GTR after the Skyline, that thing inflated to nearly 14 million yen. Price of a 911 Carrera.

I want to see one with a BEV drive train like the Tesla Model S Plaid. All GO and Corvette SHOW and sportiness and handling. If they get serious about it, they could beat the Tesla Roadster to the market. A Corvette with sub-2 second 0-60 times and 4-wheel drive would be awesome, and potentially much more reliable and practical than a turbocharged V8, especially in everyday use. With the upcoming higher energy density batteries from CATL, the ability to produce such a car is now feasible. It’s not like the ZR1 V8 is ever going to be used in any other Chevrolet, since it’s too expensive and too gas guzzling.

The only real problem I have with the Corvette which is a blessing and a curse for GM is the limitations on other GM performance cars. Sure some of the best tech ended up being used in other Chevys and GM cars but in detuned versions so as not to compete directly against Corvette sales. The Camaro is a good example. It had some of the same engines as the Corvette but would come with lower compressions or restricted exhaust systems so it couldn't be as fast. During the 60s only the Corvette could have multiple carburetors or 427 cubic inch V8s.

I bought a 1993 auto c4 in 2022 and have put about 15k miles on it since then. I picked the c4 because even though I could afford a beat c5 I could get a super clean late c4 for the same price. I drive it everyday & it’s incredibly reliable. It’s like the old Porsche I want but can’t afford but I can fix it at auto zone.

Corvette was the marque of choice last year at Watkins Glen Grand Prix Festival, and the prototype Corvette was there. It is a gorgeous car, for sure, smaller than expected and still quite well appointed. The original engine was a real turd, but today you would consider swapping that straight 6 as sacrilege. Those race prepped vettes are still out there and still gorgeous and that v8 on the track is an amazing sound

Agreed the c2 was and is just a milestone for manufacturing. It's the almost equivalent of putting a man on the moon. Absolutely a huge jump forward for GM. The jump from c1 to c2 is just incredible. I don't think the c8 is the first turbo Vette. Maybe the first standard equipped turbo.

I'm of the same opinion as Zora, I don't care for the split window on the '63 either because of how it hampers rear visibility through the mirror. If you're gonna drive fast, you want to keep an eye on who's behind you as much as what the road ahead is doing.
