Beware! For all those innocent minds appreciating the cinematography, this drama very smartly encapsulates concepts like Homosexualism, Magic, Zina etc portraying it as something normal or not so normal yet digestible for Pakistani audience. Extremely dangerous content for the young generation who are stupidly going crazy after aesthetics.

Another crazy theory about Scheherezade: Scheherezade is Mahtab and Jafar’s daughter. They did the deed before Jafar left for the South, after which Mahtab became pregnant with Scheherezade. Jafar didn’t know this, and the villagers found out about them. Since Jafar and Mahtab weren’t married and this was a sin, the villagers killed Mahtab and the unborn child. That’s why they call Mahtab names. As revenge, Mahtab lures the women of the village being abused to ensure what happened to her doesn’t happen to them. The present Scheherezade is neither dead nor alive, similar to how she was when she was killed by the villagers (in her mother's womb). Mahtab is the woman in red. When the red cloth fell on Scheherezade, she sniffed it and felt relieved because that scent was her mother’s. Hence, the soft spot for Mahtab and the belief in the reunion. Scheherezade’s time to pass over to the next world is coming soon, which is why she’s shedding. It’s also on the Equinox Night. So, why did she remain for so long? They say a spirit remains on earth if it has unfinished business. Scheherezade didn’t pass over to the next world because her task was incomplete: to reunite her parents. So, Scheherezade is the glue holding everything and everyone together.

I understood one thing clearly after watching two episodes of Barzakh and reading comments which are praising and liking this drama, that "Jab deen se door ho jaoge to har bade se bada gunah b normal lgne lgta h." No doubt picturization, direction, acting and story telling is of another level. But till now, whatever they are emphasizing, can't be normalize. There should be certain limits to be modern as well, also in accepting modern values in your life. There is nothing wrong in changing according to new generation but with knowing what is acceptable and what's not AT ALL. Hope in further episodes this drama will not try to normalize the sins and adult talk the child is speaking.

What I perceive from this episode is that jaffer wanted to be a really rich man to punish all the villagers (as they killed mehtab) and maybe thats they reason why he got married to the second lady (shehreyar’s mother). This seems from the conversation in the room (kya deri hai wo, kamyabi bulandi jo tmhary aam k darakht se bht uncha hai) and then he got some sort of permission to build that graveyard. It’s pretty clear that saifullah killed his mother so that she could get rid of that pain caused by jaffer. Or another possible reason could be his reality. Maybe his mother knows about his dark secret (of liking men) and thats why he killed the bird (the bird watched him enjoying) and similarly he killed his mother. Sanam’s character is clearly someone who connects with both worlds.

I don't understand why people are measuring it in religious ideology, they are not portraying what's right or what's wrong, they are just telling a story, its the audience who decides what's evil and what's good. Watch it for the sake of a story. Its like the story our grandmother used to narrate to us at night. Stop judging everything with religious scope.

For all those who are targeting and mocking usual Pakistani Tv dramas audience while appreciating Barzakh,... you people are just acting like "Nadeedas".yes " Barzakh" Is mind blowing and a masterpiece of art but those usual family dramas have also their importance because in these depressed times you can't watch heavy and dark content every time. We watch those light 8pm,9pm dramas just for little entertainment and family time . Which has its own impact . All genres have their own value. So respect everyone's choice.

As a Pakistani drama watching audience I want to address something... Unfortunately Pakistani society has deeply ingrained cultural taboos related to sexuality and intimacy. Viewers may feel uncomfortable with bold scenes due to these taboos, yet they may not express the same level of discomfort when watching scenes of domestic violence aired at primetime slots on TV. This inconsistency reveals a lack of critical reflection on cultural norms.

Well said. I mean, Danish Taimoor, who's 41 years old, is romancing Laiba Khurram in a drama aired in a primetime slot, who's young enough to be his daughter. There's almost a 20-year difference between the couple. Similarly, there was an extremely uncomfortable scene in Jaan Nisaar, but that was fine. I'm not saying what they're showing in Barzakh is right, but at least the show admits it's not for children.

Even if the series is not your cup of tea but each frame itself is so mesmerizing that you should watch it only to appreciate the beauty of the frames. Each frame is a painting. The white and gray mountains, trees with autumn leaves even the references of apricots and mangoes to show the autumn colour, each and everything is so thoughtful. The story being set in the season of fall to the souls having stones on their back, everything is so well thought out. Asim Abbasi should do more work tbh.❤❤ P.s. Did anybody notice the baby bump of Mahtab? The blood stain on it indicates that maybe her family killed her in the name of honour as she was pregnant. 53:30 to 53:40

Many Pakistani dramas perpetuate harmful stereotypes by portraying women as submissive, docile, and accepting of abuse. Some viewers may criticize bold scenes involving women or men but remain silent when male characters exhibit violent behavior against women. This gender bias reflects a societal problem specially in Pakistan where unequal treatment is often tolerated.

It seems like Shehrezad is the eldest child of Jafar he had with Mehtab without a wedlock as in the end scene they show pregnant Mehtab. Also Mehtab had Shehrezad when something supernatural was calling her towards it may be the land of Koh e Qaaf where fairies live according to a mythology that exist in the mountains of North that's why shehrezad has a very mysterious vibe. this series is very well crafted piece of fiction and people with imagination can enjoy it the fullest. This series target audience is fiction readers, people who used to read stories like Umro Ayyar and Harry Potter.

Connections seen in episode 2 : The lady drops a painting in Saif Ullah’s room - that painting was seen in episode 1 where she was painting it - the lady seems dead but stuck in this world I assume. The painting is from Saifullah’s past where he kills the pigeon - I think he killed the pigeon as it him “committing a sin” or as it was stated in the episode the “sacrifice” - in the first episode he is seen using handkerchief over his palms to clean his hands as if his hands are covered in “blood” in this episode we find out that he killed his mother. Jaffer Khanzada marries his second wife Dr Afroz Anwar and it was shown that she gave birth to All-girls sextuplets - where are the girls? Theres a a deep connection between missing girls and Mehtab. There is no indication as to where these girls are. Sanam Saeed doesnt seem like a human - she seems like she can communicate with the dead. Her tattoo which showed up in the end further predicts her as a strange being. The girl that disappeared was taken away by “mehtab” as they villagers call her “Mountain whore” meaning this has happened before where girls have gone lost - I believe girls who are abused disappear - in the scene the guy is seen taking about how the girls brother did something to her - In this case maybe raped her or abused her. Mahtab is seen as a pregnant woman at the end and I believe she was killed by the villagers and Jaffer burried them under the tree as a revenge. Fawad khan is a psychiatrist and he loved his wife Leena - he will having difficulty moving on from his past. Both the wives of Jaffer can be seen and they both have white fingers - maybe suggesting their died due to lack of blood circulation i.e they are murdered? Sanam Saeed can see the roots of the red tree as well as the red cloth came on her suggesting she has a connection with this world and the other world. Maybe Sanam Saeed is the child Mehtab lost?

Turkish dramas have been modern for a very long time but they have never promoted homosexuality in their shows. You can be creative, imaginative and artistic without disrespecting your religion or showing vulgarity. They are targetting the society. Wake up and see what they are trying to promote in Pakistan! Btw, this is the second time Fawad Khan has worked in a project promoting homosexuality.

Just a different story doesn’t make anything a masterpiece. Its different from other local dramas. Yes it is. But is this a masterpiece. No way. One just cant call everything a master piece. Literally, hundreds of shows are better than this. Even so many pakistani dramas are better than this. And it is not necessary to throw lgbtq content and vulgarity to make it popular. There is no place of that in our religion and even in our culture. Thousands of dramas with such content are being made nowadays. At least be honest with your roots.

Perhaps we should talk to the mullahs in the madrassas about homosexuality-they are the greatest promoters of it 🤫 I’m more bothered by THAT versus what is being depicted in cinema & art. Also, while we’re on the subject of “promoting” - how about we stop showing women getting slapped, enslaved, ab*sed, greed of jahez & blackmail….

Many people are appreciating its cinematography of this drama, but they are saying that it is far away from our deen. But about 85 percent of things that we watch on you tube are also far from our deen, the women without proper Islamic clothes, the men abusing on online platforms and every thing, these all things are also far from our deen, I am not saying that this drama should be promoted but I am saying that all the other things that are normalized these day should also be boycotted.

Such arresting visuals and clean storytelling! So, we could actually have multiverse of fairy folklores; this has reminded me of Bulbul. It was haunting and i have not wnated to revisit it ever but may I could go back and look for how the idea of violence against women and fairies as their default godmothers has been interpreted and included in the stories told by people in varied settings to suggest that any land that doesn't respect it's women is cursed by fairies and the allyship is immediately withdrawn. I have only Barzakh to credit my newfound interest in fairy folklores and magic realism. Looking forward to the next episode. Well done, team.

The show does consist of homosexuality , but if u look at it on a deeper level you will also realize that Saifullah never had a normal childhood. His early memories were of his mum and dad always arguing over something. This shows us how he was traumatized. When he grew up his dad wasn't there and he had a sick mother left behind for him. He had to take care of her and see her suffer, which caused him futher trauma. He eventually killed his mother as he could no longer see her suffer. Saifullah was anything but normal. Homosexuality is a sin and if someone is practicing it, there must be some type of trauma which has effected their thinking. If you can help them, you will be rewarded by Allah (S.W.T) inshallah. The show on the other hand is beautifully directed and the story is something else. It does show some controversial things, but its only showing the things that are happening in the society. Hiding something doesn't mean that it will vanish from our society, it can be used as awareness too.

I'm not a fan of some of the stuff they're showing, like the kid making adult jokes or Saifullah's supposed romance. However, they are two small things that I am overlooking because of the gorgeous cinematography, the slow-paced story, and the phenomenal performances. First of all, I'd like to commend whoever cast the two dead mothers. Uzma Beg and Nighat Chaudhary. Despite not saying a word, they manage to make their presence felt. The small expressions and gestures are literally perfect. Salman Shahid, a legend for a reason. He's a kid with the kid, but his demeanour changes with Saifullah and Shehreyar. It's like three different actors are playing Jaffar. The kid, Syed Arham, was absolutely amazing. Can you imagine? Acting in front of a veteran, Fawad Khan, yet managing to hold your place. Wow. Speaking of, Fawad is Fawad for a reason. His outburst and then his apology, everything about his performance is so natural. The other Fawad Khan was also amazing. He was frustrated and struggling, and so were we because of how good he was. Last but not least, Sanam. Simple, subtle, and beautiful performance. The 2-minute scene where she wanders the forest, it's unbelievable how good she can be. Her expressions change so much within the 10 seconds in which she notices that woman in red in the mountains. She went from being curious to afraid to content, all within a few seconds.

Pakistani audience who are getting offended for no reason. Here are some truth bombs for you: Selective Morality: * Some viewers may feel ashamed of watching bold scenes or content that challenges societal norms, yet they readily accept and normalize depictions of violence against women. Every second pakistani drama depicts domestic violence against female protagonist by misogynistic men and their evil mother in law but such dramas gain high TRPs. This selective morality highlights a double standard where certain behaviors are condemned while others are overlooked. STOP WATCHING IF YOU'VE PROBLEM. Learn to appreciate content for which you've to broaden your mindset.

The dramas which show voilence we condemn that voilence always talk about the negative roles their impact in mind sets of new generation and the whole audience .people are well aware these days and voilence is against morality and against human right no one in this world to be treated badly ok but homo sexuality and bold scenes which have been shown in barzakh are about cultural and religious norms there are certain limits set by both .how can you compare a voilence and vulgarity on the same level . We as a society still have our values rooted with religious norms and secondly the name barzakh it's back ground make it more weird when we see such nudity and there is no such need to show this .there are many ways to convey your thought process these evil things exist from the day one we just think they are in more practice cz they are now on social media but good n bad people n good n bad societies exist from the day man came into this planet earth so the point is you don't need to show such stuff just to please your international audience when the name of drama gives a whole other concept and being a Pakistani director people expect more of that.On Netflix and other paleforms are filled with such homosexual movies and characters if you target an intellectual audience then this point also fails here cz they have been watching this for so long .how you can justify these scenes when we don't need this and want this also.
