First time to watch your video. Very objective and on point . In less than 15 mins naipaintindi mo sa akin ung dalawang side nii Marcos as a leader during his time. 61 years old na ako and I witnessed Martial Law, Edsa and People Power but I was never really interested in politics until this election . Ngaun lang , dahil may mga anak na ako and they deserve to know both the good and the bad from reliable source. Salamat at mas madali ko ng maibabahagi sa kanila yung real picture nung panahon na yun so that they can make wise decisions in the future.

Dahil sa Probinsya namin sa Northern Samar dumami ang NPA, dahil sa ABOSO ng "60th Infantry Battalion" ni Marcos at ang Private Army ni Enrile na "Sigma" para Bantay sa kanyang Logging Concession sa San Jose Timber sa Bayan ng Las Navas, Northern Samar... 1975 nasa Manila na ako para Mag aral sa College Level ibinabalita na lang sa akin ng mga Magulang ko at Kamag anakan ko ang mga Nangyayari. Thanks for this sir. Since you mentioned about coco levy, i would like to add based on my experience. Kahit wala masyadong pera before marcos, happy kami dahil walang gutom at mura ang mga bilihin at ang bigas noon ay 1.50 lang ang ganta. Besides, mahal ang copra kaya the more naejoy namin ang life noon. when marcos won, massive vote buying, goons, ballot snatching, all forms of cheating happened. then he declared martial law, military abuses was rampant, land grabbing holdup and various crimes by the military, private companies sequested, banks run. Prices controlled by imelda's kadiwa center that jumpd to 4 pesos per ganta kung minsan itinago pa ang bigas para magmahal at ang kayang bilhin namin ay yong yellow corn na para sa baboy lang sana. Dahil sa coco levy malaki ang nabawas sa presyo ng copra kaya mga lolo ko ay namatay na mahirap at mga crony lang niya ang nag enjoy kaya cguro yong mga foreign bank accounts niya ay under the names of these cronies at the expense of the common people. Kaya lungkot ako na nakalimutan ng iba ang totoong nangyari noon. Mga sugar planters ay pinag-initan at mga students ba may potential na maging leadet ay ipinakulong dahil npa o supporter daw. So sad!

I think you can say they have a vested interest and that they also had a desire to develop the Philippines. Win/lose, they'll have money. If the developmentalist framework worked out, Marcos would've had more money and the Philippines would've prospered at the same time. Corruption could still occur even in the motor industry, which Claudio cites Japan got involved in, as in other heavy industries. Korea's Samsung got into corruption raps. Korea's chaebols and Japan's zaibatsus are basically ethical cronies, and unlike in the Philippines, they usually get what they deserve when the media exposes them. Marcos could've had both vested interest and a more general sense of what is good for a developing country. His problem was he did not check his cronies and he did not check the local warlords. So we ended up with a violent gangster-in-chief for two decades.

Ideas itself don't have intention and need not to be proven until executed. That's why it is called idea. It is all in the mind. You have to work on it first to prove it's intention. In marcos' case, it is proven that his intention is not for the development of the country first. They secured themselves then work on the country next.

You got a good argument about the things happened during the time of the late Pres. Marcos. I appreciate your 'objective' analysis, by taking consideration about the good points about Marcos regime. However, I got two questions to ask you. First, in 1983, (to be exact August 21, 1983), Ninoy was assisinated. Due to that scenario, there was 'instability' going on. I think, even the best economic managers or experts that Marcos had during that time, would had a very difficult situation due to these protests and street rallies, might, as I believe, higly affect the economic growth as investors (stock exchange) would had second thought to put money in our country, Isn't the death of Ninoy and the what-so-called 'civil disobedience and boycott of all government programs to generate money, could be the real reason why the economic growth went down? Second, you mentioned that in 1986-1987, there were 24,000 NPAs compared to early years of only 2,500 to 3,000 in 1972. The late president Marcos regime was toppled down in the early part of 1986, to be exact, on February 25, 1986. So who's the president then, in the years, 1986 and 1987? Who freed Joma and other political prisoners? Don't you think that this could also be a reason why the NPA blowned up to 24,000? How come after 50 years, we still have the same problem as to insurgency? Now, as an objective historian as you seemed to be, can you give us a lecture (maybe next time), of what happened from 1986-2016, which as far as many believed, we're under the spirit of the EDSA Revolution of 1986? Did we really achieved a true democracy, freedom and a better Philippines for Filipinos, as those leaders during that time 'promised', after the first known peaceful people power revolution? I am eager to hear from you, as I, still think, you got a very critical and unbiased mind.

The thing is, 20 years as the sole political power should have given Marcos the key to implement whatever noble program he has in mind for the Philippines and the Filipinos. His failure is the failure of all dictators and tyrant worldwide. You can't assume power through the barrels of the gun. For you need to appease the ones who hold these guns. The politics of militarism and the politics of civilians will never blend into one.. And 20 years is a hell of a long time to implement Marcos idea of societal reform. The issue in this 2022 election is not about FEM, but, would the Filipinos allow a spoil brat, without any educational qualification and who has the track record of not even filing his ITR, to be the president of this country, just because he is the son of the late dictator? The South Korea has an answer to that. The daughter of a South Korean dictator has only recently been out of jail...after having been elected to the Korean presidency. But was found guilty of perpetuating her clans' predicament. Filipinos should be aware and beware. An old crooked tree can't be straightened by any means.

I agree to some and disagree also to some of what you have just mentioned in your topic....I was born in 1956 and 65 years old now...I was in Grade4 when Pres.Marcos became president in 1965....When we lived in austerity during the time of Pres.Macapagal ....We had been living in abundance and prosperity during the time of Pres.Marcos..The elementary pupils were fed with soya milk...nutri bun...Klim milk...oatmeal....Biyayang Dagat assisted the fishermen...Samahang Nayon assisted the farmers...Ms.Marcos spearheaded the Green Revolution...everybody was compelled to plant vegetables in backyards and all vacant lots..Pres.Marcos was so strict and disciplinarian...The whole country was so clean and beautiful...There was always a contest and we always won up to regional level and even in national level....The govt of Pres.Marcos was so quick in delivering basic services...During disasters and calamities...so quick in responding emergencies and giving of relief goods...I remember Pres.Marcos and Ms.Marcos during Typhoon Yolanda...people had no food to eat...dead bodies were scattered on streets...Mar Roxas was there but no show that's why Mar Roxas did not win anymore...We have social media now....We had been Liberal Party ever since...I voted Ninoy...Cory and Noynoy....but as I look back the things that happened in the past I regretted much voting them...I regretted my votes because the Aquinos did nothing good to our country...They destroyed our country.....Cory Aquino is the worst president of the Philippines and the most corrupt according to her VP Salvador Laurel hence Cory struggled to survived.coup attempts 7X led by Gringo Honasan...She deserved it.......

This young history teacher is coming from a propagandists’ history books and point of views. His analysis are mostly opinions as well. We know most of what had happened and all the twisted writings of these propagandists. I am born in the early 60’s and our family are the silent majority. Of course the Marcoses do not pay activists and propagandists. But, as I always say, love begets love. And many love the Marcoses.
