Wow, THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this video! I was thinking about getting one of these, and I had no idea how labor intensive it was to set them up, even if I'm not setting up the utilities. This doesn't really look like something I'd want to do every night if I were travelling a long distance.

Pop-Ups are a huge pain in the ass, I used to have an old single-piece-roof Coleman and it was a piece of shit and impossible to set up. If you can afford to get one look at hybrid trailers. They have soft sided fold outs for the bed and a traditional RV body. Have a Jayco X23B now and it is just a totally different experience using it.
@HerrP582 жыл бұрын
Many popups like my Viking have simplified the setup process. I use a 20v drill to raise the roof and crank down/up the stabilizers, and there are no bars under each bed bunk. Those help quite a bit.
@basdensamericanrv12 жыл бұрын
Nah... After you get the hang of it, you can set up a popup by yourself in less than 10 minutes. There are two-person teams that can have one setup in 2.5 minutes! It seems like a lot to do, but it's all in the procedure and method.

@beavercleaver78484 жыл бұрын
I'd set up our family's my own self in more like five minutes at around ten years of age, decades ago. But was bigger than average. I was, I mean. Hadn't thought of those campers in many years. Tent Trailer was the commonly-used term back then. Had never heard the words Popup, Folding Camper, Tent Camper used for them until saw this post. They were much more commonly seen, used back then. Their construction, setup were much more simple then. Unlatch latches on outside of each end, which secured square metal top to square metal bottom during travel, pull/slide ends of beds outward, up went the metal roof on the ends of metal pipes/rods which unfolded, straightened up as beds were pulled out. No cranking involved. Heavy canvas attached to those, other folding, unfolding metal rods, pipes covered sides, ends, rest of ceiling area of trailer when set up for occupancy. Air conditioning, heating were concepts from The Future. Zero privacy for any family member on inside. Still, when was a child, was pleasant enough vacation living when frozen tundra west of Boston thawed for summer, could drive to, set up near, a pleasant lake or ocean area to east or south, camp out there for two weeks, swim, tan - as mother, I, sisters always wanted to do. Father, though, would often have us on some version of Mao's Long March/Cherokee's Trail Of Tears, traveling to, through frozen Vermont, New Hampshire/Maine/Maritime Provences of Canada, where needed ski jackets at night in July, August, ocean water was shockingly cold first minutes immersed in it. Get up early morning, fold up trailer, attach it to station wagon, drive all day until early evening, rent camp space in camp ground, set up trailer, go to sleep, get up early next day, repeat for two weeks. Father had suffered from untreated hyperactivity from childhood, they guessed long after. Such people were just considered to be extra annoying/exhausting before there was a word, treatment for it. I bailed out for CA, where no one knew what 90+% humidity accompanied by clouds of biting mosquitos, black flies, gnats, no-see-ums (microscopic biting flying insects) were, not to mention deer ticks, almost ASAP, stayed there for decades.

I'm most of these videos they don't show setting the door in place. That's the hardest part. If the camper isn't 100 perfect perfectly level it won't line up.
@HerrP582 жыл бұрын
Very true. The leveling has to be spot on, and the roof must be fully up (green cable taut). Good things to check if the door or "canvas" doesn't quite seal.
