and straight to the point. There are some guys here, pros included, that have some long-winded videos. Just get to the point. This is a good video.

No idea who this is, or why it's on an Orthopaedic Surgery channel, but this was great. I'm looking around for indoor outfield drills to do with my outfielders, and the quick cone work is awesome. Thanks for posting, and for being willing to share your ideas/knowledge.

That was great coach. I have always used those methods with my kids. Specially the relay to the cut off man. To throw to base, as long is the cut off is line up properly.

Thanxs For The Help Great For My Coach And Team! My Coach Is Gonna Love This
@robertrinaldi40179 жыл бұрын
love this, only comment is on crappy high school outfields where a lot of bad hops take place i say field the ball on the inside of your foot so your body keeps it in front on most plays (arm wont be enough to block)...i only go outside on game winning run situations on bad fields....on nice outfields OFs should be coordinated enough to handle it on the outside of their foot...good stuff!

+Robert Rinaldi Agreed.... I teach the young men to square it up for the very same reason.

great video.... I like the drills. however, I think it's impossible to field the ball with your glove side leg planted with glove on the ground.... then crow hop with your next step while running full speed. you would have to field the ball and get it out of your glove and in throwing position within a half step. tell me what you think..... I'll make a video and send you what I'm talking about.

Absolutly Great lesson , one of the best I have seen, many things to learn on this one ,my son 7th grader 12 years old,,,who has always played infield 3rd, short, second , usually pitching, with a great stick , tried out and made it to one of our top high school baseball programs, they practice with him second and short but in games he comes in as a right fielder, so now it's time for him to understand outfield, its not just catching a fly ball,,,,,, thank you for the video Swing

the drop step is a 45 degree angle
@sclarsballsclarsball12307 жыл бұрын
Usually it's 45 degrees, but what he said is even more accurate. The angle of your drop step depends on your intended target direction based on where you judge that the ball will end up landing.

If you turn your back to the ball ..you lose the ball and can't track it as well
@sclarsballsclarsball12307 жыл бұрын
If you try to back pedal to catch a ball that's heading over your head, you'll get a great view of a ball sailing over your head. :-) You have to turn your back to the ball and sprint deep to even get into position for the deep fly that is traveling over your head. After you have your body momentum taking you in the correct direction, then you turn your head to locate the ball. This is not that hard if you consider that this is what all football receivers do. For me, playing wide receiver in football really helped me make over the shoulder catches in baseball/softball. Or simply have a drill where your outfielder run back and pretend to be wide receivers.
