This was incredibly helpful. My 11 year old pitches from the stretch very naturally but I'd like him to learn the wind up as well. You broke this down so thoroughly and made it very understandable. Thank you for not rushing through each step. I am not a pitcher but now I want to try, lol.

Thank you beautiful human being, no one's given as good a description of the windup as you have!

I feel it is important to add that your front foot should be facing the catcher once you land but remember not to open that front leg up except for when you are about to land. Another thing I would like to add that I feel is important is to have the picture only focus on the mitt. Usually the pitcher will throw toward the last thing they look at before they released a ball. This is especially true with little kids

Waho! Good Job. A professional trainner. I was a table tennis player 30 year ago. Now I understand the mechanic to hit the ball hard becasuse of this video. It is the same as baseball or similar. You load then release the leg and after complete the relase then turn the hip and hit the ball following through as he explanid

Pitching from the stretch you need to really push off the rubber really hard to bring momentum and arching out with both arms away from each other with a good kick then you're kicking leg making a short stride and using your kicking foot hitting the ground and pushing off of it the other leg taking a step with the rest of your body to complete the throw this way will be less stress on your pitching arm.

Given the title, it would be nice if he TOLD US WHAT THE STRETCH IS. Twelve minutes of detail and Mr. Stokes doesn't bother to tell us what "the stretch" means.

He explained what the stretch was. It's simple it's how you going to deliver the ball most of the time. Windup is mostly used when no one is on base, when someone is on base you will be on the stretch position ready to pitch/ keeping balanced as you also keep an eye on the runner on base

*_I AGREE ENTIRELY._* For a person who already spent time in organized ball, such basic PICTURES are not needed; but, for younger players --- or, for someone trying to learn the correct details of the game --- this video is worse than worthless. Given the title, this guy DOES NOT SHOW, DIRECTLY, the basics; sure, he mentions them, over and over, but he does not SHOW THEM. Worse yet, he is poorly organized, he jumps from topic to topic, sloppily failing to connect it all. I won't give him an "F", but, probably a "D".

You're missing a lot and you have a lot of wrong information that will hurt arms and shoulders. I think your philosophy is correct but you knowledge isn't par with high velocity throwing. One example is stopping your hip. This causes your arm to cross your body, straining the back of your shoulder to stop your arm....not a good idea. And quickly, "Putting the ball on a shelf" when you break your hands will tear your elbow apart.
