For the youngsters watching... welcome to the gorillaball era of college baseball... we had the hottest bats on the planet during the 1990s... the records speak for themselves... LSU hit 188 home runs in 1997, and hit at least 1 in every single game (70 games) 1 year later, LSU hit 8 bombs from 7 different players in the CWS against USC These bats were incredibly overpowered, and it made for one heck of a game to watch

Pretty sure there are more homers in college now across the board than there ever has been per at-bat. Tennessee hit 184 last year which was nearly the same per game as 1997 LSU. I've always wondered how the quality of baseballs has changed as well. I would assume the ball used by high schools now, are much better than we had in the 90's, and the ones currently for college are much better as well.

That looks like the red version. I have the other version that was more orange in the logo. Pretty sure it was an "extended barrel" too. Closer to the Reflex C-core. I want to say it was from 95-96, but I could be wrong. Ironically, after watching these videos, last week, I went hunting in mom's attic and found it with the Gold TPX and the all White and Black TPX from a few years earlier. It's funny this pops up now. I think the Orange one is the holy grail of them, though. Back then, my dad worked for the Astros in the Astrodome. I regularly took BP on the field. So my father designed bats for Easton from the early 90s to late 90s. This was his first batch he designed. The reason the barrel tapers out to 2 3/4 so late, is to amplify the whip effect by having a thinner handle. Much debate was had within Easton to make this design. Most didn’t agree with my dad that this would result in increase performance. Testing left no doubt it did. I was one of the people that tested the bats. His perfection on design was the Reflex. Eventually, dad did his job too well and every bat he designed, resulted in bats being banned because they were too good. Dad, took his years of knowledge in aerospace making rockets and planes and applied it to baseball. He understood the science and how different metals worth under different conditions. Enjoy! He is proud that people to this day speak so highly of his creations. Oh by the way, aluminum bats perform better when it is cold.

Wow I can’t believe you found the bat I hit my farthest HR with. I played American Legion Ball in 1993 and swung a 35” Easton Black Magic and up against decent velocity my buddy had the new CCore and when I tell you I hit the ball so well I didn’t feel it and the field I played at was 340’ down each line and 400’ to dead center. My teammates told me where it landed it was a left center power alley shot probably 370’ to the fence it had about 50’ to trees and I cleared the trees and the ball was still staying up. We measured it from the fence and I hit it around 115’ past the fence. My guess was 485’

Sometimes I wish I were around in the 90s to be able to swing these bats in game.
