I don’t care what anyone says. Stupid analytical stats like launch angle has really hurt batters efficiency. These guys are constantly trying to lift the ball instead of just making solid contact. Batting average has continued to decline because of this. Too many guys swinging for the fences, instead of trying to make solid contact. That’s just one old guy’s opinion Oh, and let me add, as a Yankees fan, this team drives me crazy! 18:07 LOL! My guy Joez!

analytics is ruining football too. So many teams going for it on 4th down no matter their field position. Its pretty common sense that unless you are getting trounced by 30 points in the 3rd quarter you punt on 4th and 16 on your own 20 yard line. But not nowadays! The computer says go for it!
@DeepfriedBeans4492Ай бұрын
What makes getting more contact the peak of efficiency if it's at the cost of quality of contact? They don't go off of analytics at random for funsies, they go off of analytics because they prove that playing in a certain way leads to scoring more runs. Now yes, offense as a whole is going down, but that's because pitchers keep throwing harder and with more spinrate, not because hitters decided to be dumber.

In 2022 they put a humidor in each ballpark. Thing is not every ballpark needs one. Places like colorado had some video game stats and earned theirs. If you put a humidor in each ballpark though it returns the advantage to the hitters park. If everyone has a humidor then no one has a humidor. Sure offense will be down on the whole but the advantage will be there for the small park. The humidor was supposed to even out the offense not depress it in every park.

The pitching thing was actually shown in a manga called One Outs. In the manga, the main team's owner/player had his players pitch the ball at full speed. when it was his turn to pitch, everyone had been given so many fastballs that when they tried to hit his ball, they were unable to do so. I think we are seeing a real life version of this happen because pitchers are taught to toss fast in the MLB so now it's starting to affect batters

I don't remember seeing many high score games when I was a kid. It was rare to see a team score 17 runs in a game. Now you see last place teams scoring 20 runs in a game. Hardly anyone bats over .300 anymore. The game has changed so much over the past 20-30 years.

I'm starting to suspect the umps are widening the strike zone at key moments and that's affecting overall batting averages. I don't have any proof but just that it seems like when there is a mistake by the ump, it's more likely to be a ball called a strike than a strike called a ball. It could be that balls in the zone are less likely to be taken and therefore there's fewer opportunities for the ump to call a strike a ball though.

Splitter usage have been growing around for a good 2 or 3 years now. And while im sure the increase definitely has led to less offense overall, I'm convinced that mlb is constantly changing their baseballs every season. What really stands out to me is how the best picthers last year (with mostly the same arsenal) had eras in the mid to high 3s last year, and its dropped back down to below 3 for those same pitchers, which I'm sure is from the baseballs. In a year or two offense will go up again. And looking at the stats the other day, my phillies somehow keep staying at the top of the league in wins, while not really performing greatly offensively, which for me points again to the pitching and the baseballs.

I think part of the issue is hitters started focusing on exit velocity and launch angle instead of just putting the ball in play.

So the blow out with the position players seems to be easy to explain. If you are up a lot then you'll swing at anything just to get the game over with quicker. Doesn't matter if you get out or not.

Why would they not want to juice their stats to make more money

I love how 2/3rds of the video was New York and LA. How original. You know other things happened outside those two cities right?

To be clear, I love this channel, but this video was rather disappointing.

Ive been saying this…MLB EFFED with the balls again. Be interesting to see if more hitters than pitchers are hitting free agency this year.

If the MLB wants more offense, maybe they should maybe move the mound back a foot or 2 so batters have more time to react to a pitch and help them get more contact on the ball

Paul Skenes is basically a Road to the Show pitcher in real life with that lethal arsenal of pitches

Im a bit surprised that you didnt mention the padres and dbacks as their race has been incredibly entertaining. How 2 teams are able to get hot at the exact same time and have been 1 game within each other for a whole month. Also just the insanity about how quickly they climbed the rankings, once again, at the same time. Although this video was 2 weeks ago so. Great video anyway.

“1200 fewer runs” sounds scary until you realize it’s 40 runs per team. For the entire season. That’s LESS than 1 fewer run per 4 game series per team. Basically unnoticeable unless you’re studying yearly totals.

@@Edward_Nebiolo I more think it’s such a relatively small number it could just be random. It’ll be interesting to see, if the environments don’t change, if it bounces back next year.

My favorite part of Skenes vs Ohtani, is how after Ohtani hits it out, Skenes turns around and smiles😂. Also it's super cool how respectful both of them are, I'm super glad the current "next gen" players have so much better attitudes than a lot of the previous guys.
