I think the lyrics has to do with the fact that most people want to start a relationship but they can't even love themselves, but want to be loved. I think this has a little bit of irony, it's like someone like this is singing.

My interpretation is that of being with someone even though you don't love them; simply being with them because you want to feel loved by someone else.
