Perhaps I'm failing to empathise with the mindset of certain fans, but I'm not sure what people were expecting of this EP... the lads took a couple years to recuperate so they're obviously not going to sound the same. I for one am so excited to see the band has grown and not trying to replicate their previous releases in this time and therefore become stale. I'm absolutely loving the obvious indie influences on this and Jet. So, so good.

So shitty reading the comments. I found their old shit really good and appealing, but this is alternatively appealing. I enjoy the raw guitar and how clearly you can hear each instrument at work; especially the vocals. I think they focused a lot more on the instrumental part of the song, which in turn, sounds a lot better than I expected. Not every album will sound the same, and assuming so will only result in disappointment and stupid comments explaining how this band's "changed."

Damn reading these comments in 2024 has my mind blown. found this song, listening to siriusxm radio on my summer roadtrip and had to look it up. thought it was brand new song. This is def one of my fav EPs of this summer. sad but glad to say this song is how I discovered basement. I was 16 in 2014 I would’ve ate this shit up ,binging their old shit now too

Probably the best of the 3 from the EP, so happy they've decided to make more music, and seeing them at reading should be nuts too, i think the sound has changed a bit but the other two albums were released 2/3 years ago obviously somethings going to change it that time, im pretty sure 90% of the commenters on here have changed a lot in the past 3 years, i think their first two albums were hard to live up to as they are both amazing

Yeah, ye olde good basement colourmeinkindness is never coming back, this is the only song that i really appreciate of the album, now they sound like 90% of actual bands. They had their own style and they are literally dumping it. 6/10 while colourmeinkindness is 9/10, Bad job guys, really dissapointed.

Can you describe for me what their unique sound was that they "lost"? What elements of their songwriting are taken from other bands, or are norms, that they weren't doing before? Or are you referring to the guitar riffs, drum beats, and melodies? Because those have changed considering these are new songs. Ignoring the songs you heard on tumblr last year that got you into them, what objectively about this song do you not like? You can't expect music from an artist to sound exactly the same album to album and if you do, you're expecting something unrealistic and detrimental to music as a whole.
