Totally agree...as I am months away from turning 40, I find myself going back to tried and true 531 and less interested in the trendy new programs. I find that it's better to have a program you enjoy rather than trying to squeeze every last pound towards a PR and not enjoy your workouts.

I don’t think you may have given rts enough time. It takes a few cycles to figure out what works for you for squat/bench/deadlift. That’s why you try multiple different blocks and see what results you get from doing them. I do rts coaching and I’d say it took about 8 months to find what clicks, and now all 3 of my lifts are PRed. Prior to that, I was very up and down, sort of like what you may have faced. Thought it wasn’t working, until it finally clicked
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon Жыл бұрын
I understand and can partially agree. The bigger thing for me however is just enjoying the training itself, which over the past few months of RTS, I couldn't say was the case anymore. Even if a program/coaching style is the most optimal, if it's something you don't want to do, it's hard to warrant pushing forward. Also from a monetary standpoint, it was a huge cost savings.

Would like to hear if the weekly progressions are similar in JuggernautAI vs EvolveAI. I ran powerbuilding on Evolve for 4 cycles but got tired of slowly ramping up from 2 sets @ RPE 6-7 to 3-4 sets @ RPE 9 over the course of 3-4 weeks, then having to deload immediately after. Mainly speaking of assistance work here but it just never felt like enough volume or intensity.
@01minicoopers

My experience has been that they are essentially identical as far as the programming is concerned. I’ve enjoyed Evolves benchmark sets as a way to add variety. I’d often pick one lift to do a “1x1 @8” and would use that as a way to add extra focus to one lift and do some heavier singles to get excited about.

@@BasementBrandon Thanks Brandon. Aside from the benchmarks, a difference I found (using Juggernaut book, not the AI version) was that Chad had one version where you would do Heavy, Light, Medium workouts per week in, say, the bench press and you would do full movement bench for heavy, 4 block bench for Light and 3 block bench for light (something like that...I may have gotten the block count wrong). That did seem to work for me (I haven't seen that possibility offered in the EvolveAI). When was the last time you rolled your own program in a spreadsheet? You modify jug so much and “trick” it with higher RPE ratings, so why not DIY?
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say I trick it since RPE is pretty subjective. But I've found when starting out training again I always prefer to do more sub max stuff. It adapts over time and will readjust during my RPE10 weeks.

How do you like the transformer bar? I'm dealing with some bad elbow issues and shoulder issues due to poor mobility from low bar squats, so I was thinking about purchasing this while increasing my mobility so I can at least keep getting the volume in and progress with weight. But does it actually mimic a true high or low bar squat? Do you think this is a good idea or just stick with my Titan ssb?
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon Жыл бұрын
I have a dedicated video on it, but I'll save you some time: unless you plan on using all the variations on it, I would just stick with a SSB.

If you under estimate or over estimated your 1 rep max do the program adjusted accordingly from week to week ? E.g you did 100kg x10reps at rpe 10 , next week it’s not going to use your 1RM and put 120kg for 10 reps is it ?
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon Жыл бұрын
Usually 1RMs are updated at the end of a block (usually 4 weeks). What I like about RPE based work is that it adapts for that day. So If you feel like trash and it's working off a percentage of a 1RM it may be too brutal for you.

Haha well the back story on that is wild. Was in Columbus AT ROGUE and was asking when they were releasing their own plates b/c I was ready to buy. They told me they weren't sure of release date. Went back to hotel and bought Ivankos. Literally next day Rogue released theirs. Tried to cancel Ivanko order but was already loaded on truck and would get a 30% restocking fee.
