I'm quite surprised that people hating Rekhaji and Shashi Kapoor's character. His wife was sick for 14 years. It's quite a long time. They have the right of having normal and happy life. Everyone has sympathy for sick people. This is great. But Rekhaji's character also gone through hell. She almost lost everything by one night. She tried to pretend everything is ok while couldn't even meet her little kid. Whatever Sarda( Rakhiji) didn't deserve this pathetic ending at least she could live in separate house with her son and daughter in law.

In fact Rekha was feeling uncomfortable instead of feeling sorry or guilty. The way she cries in the bedroom when Rakhi is with her husband is more disgusting. She snatched her life and is acting as if her sister did something wrong to her. Her son was feeling extremely uneasy. These things would have murdered her. Her own son has betrayed her. Horrible movie. Instead of living with people who don't want her, she chose to live alone.

Good movie. Great performance by Raakhee. Music is soothing. The film was a big success when it was released in theatres. Poor mental health is still considered a stigma in India. Raj Kiran and Poonam make a refreshing pair. The film was directed by Ramesh Talwar who allegedly was deeply smitten by Dhillon in real life. Had Dhillon married him, she would have led a happy marital life. She made wrong decisions in life and suffered as a result. It is sad that the child actor in the movie passed away so early.

People are just looking from sharda’s side. Look from neema side she got widowed at her own honeymoon. She sacrificed her youth and took care of her sisters child. And then her father married her off with her jija. That jijavwho is in love with his wife and made a sacrifice by marrying neema. And after a long time they started falling in love with each other and then had a child. So it took many years for them to reach this stage of happiness. And she deserves happiness.

Yes,c does deserve happiness but not at the expense of her elder sister's happiness.c got widowed but c could have married sm1 else.if c wanted to help her jiju to raise his kids..c could have done it by being his saali not gharwali...I don't symphatise with her...c choose her happiness over the sis who loved & raised her as her own child.and the husband..he is a dirt..he could have raised his kids alone...he didn't have to marry his sis in law...if the same thing was done by rakhee then?all hell would hv broken loose if c had married her Dewar...

This impeccable film has topped all of the films so far. Almost through every moment, the inclination, in every sense it means, was towards everything and everyone else but her, particularly as the interval resumed. Obvious and not wrong. And one thing to be noted is that it ain't a question of "right" or "wrong". Appallingly, as the end is closer, all that she personified is beyond the bounds that one could imagine in a lifetime. A small opening could be enough to undo it all again and never feel complete, which is exactly where her call left a powerful impact on the spectator ions that we are. Being a little bit open and subtle, it's about realizing the tussle it is to think anything is strictly this or that. The sayings like "If this wouldn't happen..." and "If that wouldn't exist..." can stay calm for a while. The thing is, consider the "baseline" of the situation is exactly that, at least for as long as a film runs. Everything, event-to-event, as the storyline goes, doesn't have to be "likeable" and "realistic" "enough". At the end of the day, it comes down to how we take it to be. There's an array of learning points and themes at every possible instant of the film.

True..but maybe since he hs spent a major part of his life with Rekha, he is more loyal to her now and feels more sad for her though he is concerned abt Rakhee too....life is full of complexities. Even Rekha's character would face the same turmoil bcoz she loves her husband and sister equally and doesn't want to hurt either of them.
