Join me for a walk in the Cleveland Hills where I try out some BASHA configurations with my trekking poles in preparation for an adventure that I have planned, hopefully in the near future.

My ambition to just use a tarp in them there hills, but think in the winter the banshee is still my first choice. I struggle with the snugpak tarp as it’s not square to do some configurations. Have you been to that micro brewery in Cropton yet? I’m in hospital tomorrow and going to be out of action till March (no hills doctors orders) so might get back to watching YT. Going to keep your NY video for the hospital. 👍

My Banshee's still knackered so the tarp tent will have to suffice for now. Hope it's nothing too serious, hope it all goes well. I haven't been to the micro brewery yet mate. I'll wait until your fighting fit again and we'll go for a pint and an overnighter if you're up for it? Thanks for watching. Atb Shaun

I use the latter config Shaun. It's easy but effective. I like these new hills your walking. I suspect you're going to have fun up there. Mark

Thanks for sharing bud, did like your first coffin configuration, did an overnighter at altitude myself using similar set up, pinned down at one end, pole outside, had a warm and dry night in rain storm at a windy exposed 1400 ft, and the DPM tarp did the business love the basha for its zero condensation. My film is : ' Longer version bug out at altitude, i think. Alb, Harry

Hi Harry. I watched your video yesterday night mate, looked awesome. That waterfall was amazing! You had some great views also, shame it rained a lot but other than that it looked great, thumbs up from me. I'll be using the first configuration for the majority of my trip, look like it worked well for you. Thanks for watching. Atb Shaun

Why do you prefer the DPM over the MTP basha? is there a difference in sizes?
@BASHADweller

Just personal preference with regards to the camouflage, I think DPM blends better with British woodlands. They're identical otherwise. Thanks for watching. Atb Shaun

Intriguing prequel, Shaun. The 1st set up seems to be the best for this time of year in an exposed area. I bet there is a very nice snap cabin behind that fence. Atb.

Yeah first set up is probably what I'll use, I agree it's the best option for exposed areas. I bet there is a snap cabin with Sky TV and other good stuff. I've always wanted to work in a place that is secluded like that, I'm not much of a people person so that would be the dream! lol. Thanks for watching. Atb Shaun

The first set up will give all round protection, I used to bivvi with a very low A frame in winter using a couple of old 18" tent poles. Gone soft with the tent these days :)

I'll most likely go with the first set up mate, much for the reasons you've given. Nothing a matter with a tent. Thanks for watching. Atb Shaun

Good options , I think the first set up would be my preference, just for the fact your covered on all sides keep the wind off you , when I was doing the fells I always had 2 walking poles and 100ft of paracord essential pieces of kit with me , the cook system I used was the crusader cook set in fact I've still got it stored away as you know shaun I'm retired from the fells with I'll health but your video's are the next best thing I look forward to your next video thanks for sharing
@BASHADweller

Yeah I think you're right Norman, the first set up is most likely what I'll use for the majority of the trip. I have a crusader but I've never really taken to it, they work well but there's just something about them I don't quite like. Horses for courses. I'm glad my videos are giving you your outdoor fix, I don't look forward to the day I am no longer able to do this stuff either, that's partly why I make these videos so I can look back. Thanks for watching, always nice to hear from you. Atb Shaun
