@@40streetblack79 I agree with you totally. In another one of my videos I address that a bit. I think it’s the one with longevity for a game dog. You’re right. I never want to sound like this is the only way, or like everyone has to do this. I hope I don’t come off like that in my videos. I think we should feed the best we can. If that means great, decent or even ok kibble, then that’s what we feed. Thanks for the comment.

I know this is a old video but how many times a day would you feed a pup 6 months or older when doing this method ?
@genuineapbt66902 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question and a lot of people aren’t concerned with that but should be. What we do is once the pup is fully weaned off of the mother, we feed them like this: 8 weeks old to 6/mo, feed 3 times a day 6/mo old to 1 year old, feed 2 times a day 1 year old and on, feed 1 time per day Keep in mind that when feeding several times a day the meals are smaller than when feeding once a day. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

Hello. Can I give an 8 week old puppy a drumstick? If not, what kind of meaty bone do you recommend?
@genuineapbt6690 Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for asking this question. At eight weeks the puppy might not be able to handle a complete chicken drumstick. Depends on the size of the drumstick but more importantly on the puppy. Some puppies can do it. Maple was able to but I still chopped it in half for a couple weeks. It’s something you have to supervise closely. If it’s too small they can swallow it without chewing it and that could be a potential problem. If it’s to large, even though they chew on it, they might not be able to break it up to swallow properly. What I did is the safe approach. Chop it in 2, feed them that half with a bit of ground beef and other stuff for one meal. Do this 3 times a day until 6 months. Than twice a day. At a year, I go to once a day. Please remember, I’m not a dog nutritionist. This is only my experience and what I have done. Hope this helps.

@@genuineapbt6690 thank you! What about chicken wings and chicken feet?
@genuineapbt6690 Жыл бұрын
@@junrivera7809 both should be fine at 8 weeks. Although, they don’t provide enough protein because they’re mostly bone and skin. They do provide extra calcium when added to the drumsticks or quarters. They are also way more per pound.

@@KestinTolai I’ve raw fed for years and never had a single issue with the bone included. The key is “raw” never cooked. Cooked bones can be brittle and possibly cause choking.

I give my pit quite a bit of rice, fats and high quality biscuits mixed with meat. I’m trying to maximise his growth he’s 10 months now when he’s about 16 months I’m going to transition him to only meat and biscuits to take some weight off and start conditioning him. Am I doing the right thing? My goal Is over feed him and carb him so he grows well so yeah. He’s naturally lean his mum was ripped as shit lots of definition.
@genuineapbt66902 жыл бұрын
Going off of what has worked for me, 1. At 10 months, just feed him well and play with him using some of the things that you will condition him with later. Don’t work him yet. Only familiarize him to them. 2. I’ve fed Maple raw feed since she was 8 weeks old. Chicken, ground beef, beef liver, chicken liver, chicken gizzards, coconut oil, fish oil and canine vitamins. Not all at the same feeding of course. I have always stayed away from the carbs. Look at her pic in my Community section. That picture is with 3 weeks of conditioning. Thanks for the comment.

@@genuineapbt6690 okay I’ll get some liver for him and supplements, pull back on the rice a bit as well. I just ordered a flirt pole and a tug toy/bite pillow, can I get him working on those yet?? I’m also thinking of building a spring pole for him, at what age can I start him? He’s very high energy and some days I won’t have time to walk him so I figured getting him on a spring pole and working him a bit with the flirt pole will satisfy him. Thanks for the help appreciate it. I’m new to performance dogs so trying my best to figure it out as I go.

Liver should only be given how many times a week if i feed my dog twice a day?
@genuineapbt66903 жыл бұрын
I can tell you exactly how many times. Like I said in the video, I gave Coco just enough to where I thought it would be helpful to her particular situation. Less than 1 ounce, once a day, 3 times a week, for about 1 month. Hope this helps.

@genuineapbt66903 жыл бұрын
If you are feeding the bone in the chicken quarter it should be enough calcium depending on the size of the dog. Also, keep in mind that when you first ad a small amount of liver ,chicken gizzards, yogurt or Kiefer or anything else besides the chicken and ground beef, that might trigger a loose stool until the dog gets familiar with it. Introduce small amounts when adding something new and space it up with days in between. Hope this helps

give them the chicken quarters damn near frozen and the will chew it all the way up

I try not to give them the food frozen. FOD or even room temperature is better for digestion. Remember you’re trying to simulate eating an animal. Thanks for the comment!
