My Class tells me they love how I tell them which muscle they are using. The Retirement Home doesn’t allow me to use music though, because they take their hearing aids out to get into the pool. They cannot hear me and the music.

Question, I can’t get my Seniors to jog, they only walk. I can’t get most of them to do high knees. They only raise their knees as much as they do walking, which is not much at all. Most cannot raise their legs high. When I tell them to kick, they do a slow leg raise, and not a kick. They do everything in slow motion, where they are almost falling asleep. Is there anything I can do, or is this as good as it gets???!

Hmmm....I saw your other comment about the retirement home not allowing you to use music. That is unfortunate. Music is a motivator and would liven up the class. Try interval training with just short bouts of higher effort. If you tell them you just want 15 seconds of the highest effort they've got...and that then you will go back to a moderate pace for 45 seconds...that may inspire them to give more effort in a short doable time frame. That helps them to identify a difference in working levels. This also sounds like the perfect class setting to put more purposeful movement - such as Arthritis Foundation exercises for ROM.

@@markgrevelding2590 They threw a beach ball to each other today. That got more effort out of them.
