You have a good sense of humour I enjoyed that. I was taught by a very knowledgeable man who loved to say...."get hold of that string will ya " haha. It goes back to the old sailing ships when a rope had to be made a certain length and strength before it could be called "rope". You cannot use left and right on a boat because it would change for people coming at you......same as you have near side and off side on a car. Your films are fun keep em coming.

@@WayneTheBoatGuy The standard length for a British Naval ship was 1,000ft.....thats why the old guys don't call them ropes. Lines......or string haha. Near side is kerb side......off side is drivers side.

I'm actually from a culture, where we do not have words for "port" and "starboard" and here, the left side of the boat is the side on your left, when you look at the boat from its stern towards its bow, and the right side of the boat is the right, when you look from its stern towards its bow. When I look at another boat, well its left side to me is the left side of that boat, when I look at it from then stern of that boat towards the bow of that boat. Therefore, the port and starboard always sounded a bit redundant to me. Do left and right have different meanings in the English-speaking part of the world?

I've been boating for years, so I was blasting through this video at 2.5x speed... until I reach the word "con" (or "conn"). I had never heard that word before. I learned something new!

Thanks for the vocab tour. You have a very nice boat. My boat would not do well where you're floating haha. I thought 14 foot was big, I'm super wrong.

Thank you! It all depends on the day - I go out in this area in a 12 ft boat sometimes too - but there's far less days that are suitable for a little boat!
