A guy who was a Buddhist took me out to the front lawn and taught me some wing chun and gave me hands of lightening. I learned to crawl up their arms with a dazzle of slapping their hands away and striking the outsides of the corners of their eyes, using the back of my index finger in a classic wing chun fist. Ya know that wing chun fist with the index finger folded but extended? If you make boxing fists and put them in front of you and spin them one over the other you notice - nothing special in the way it moves and flexes. Not much speed. Try harder. It doesn't get much faster, easier. The way all the joints are folding slows it down. Same fist, but - index finger still folded, stuck it out from the fist in that classic weird, wing chun fist style. Roll one over the other one in front of you flexing the wrist some. See how much faster? You climb up the guy's arms, knocking his aside with a mix of fists/forearms, - it ain't gonna take you long- and use that folded index finger stuck out from your fist, to sorta BACKHAND the OUTSIDES of his EYES. HARD!!! !*BAM*! with the back of that index finger bone across the outer eye socket. His head turns a dash As SOON as his head turns a little from an eye touch/strike, LOOK DOWN, like LIGHTENING: he's STANDING more on ONE LEG: STOMP OUT the SIDE of THAT knee HARD!!! DO it to him AGaiN: EYE smears - LOOK FAST - HARD!! KiCK tha PiSS outta hiM in the BACK or SIDE of knee AGAIN. As a tiny skinny 140 pound guy I kicked SEVERAL older, bigger, stronger MEANER men's asses this way like taking candy from a mother fucking CHiLD. YeS I DiD and EVERY single person I did it to was afraid of me from that day forward. Kicking out knees is a high art. Everyone should learn it and you need the right tools. A dummy hanging up is good. I use a 3 tennis ball vertical hanging rig called a 'straight line rig' and some americans who did it in the 70s who were i think themselves, wing chun guys, they actually NAMED it a 'wing chun rig.' But the traditional guys didn't like the name so it's called a 'straight line' rig. Hang from ceiling, 3 bungee cords. Remove the hooks from them. At face level secure tennis ball. cut X in ball, slide bungee over ball. tie in square knot to next bungee, put knot in tennis ball: eye height for a fairly tall guy. Zipper height for that same guy do same thing: tie knot, and slide into tennis ball Kneecap height put another ball. Knot bungees, put inside ball. Spray canned foam insulation into both ends of all three balls till full. This will keep the knots from sliding out. Hang the top bungee from ceiling however you see fit. Bottom bungee, fix it to one of your shoes or boots that you stuff full of rags. Hang this in front of mirror so you see yourself, through the rig in the mirror. Learn to fake very well and not telegraph what you are doing, and about to hit/kick. Learn to aim AND HIT the two lower tennis balls with feet, with shoes on. Learn to fake - then eye poke VERY fast and stomp knees. Let the rig wobble around and experiment with the several exercises it affords. Namely you can kick at pelvis (zipper) height full strength and have something to aim at - yet it's as if you miss so you have to kick HARD - but control it. You can spin-kick the rig, spin-heels to pelvis, spin stomps to thigh. You can kick the knee height tennis ball in motion You can use the shoe as an ankle stomp simulator. IF you stomp where does it put you in relation to asshole? IF you kick hard where does that put you in the follow up. You need to kick him but not open up to getting punched out. There is a video of a guy fighting someone and he kinda jab kicks to the pelvis - the guy knocks him the FUCK out. You gotta practice. If you are REALLY poor you can DO this with a STRING. You hang it from the ceiling from a hook or a door jamb overhead from a nail or screw. At eye height, tie some tiny piece of cloth, or a little piece of sponge. NOT very LARGE. At zipper height same thing. At knee height do the same. You can't stomp down on these like you can the bungee kind but you can practice SILENTLY, kicking the KNEE height one with a SHOE on. You can also practice eye poking at the top one then kicking and kneeing the zipper high one. The ones made out of bungee cords you can strike HARD and also they have a bouncy effect and you can do speed drills. Also the bungee kind you can practice knee stomping. Do this on the knee high tennis ball and practice with BARE foot for this drill, sorta 'trapping' the tennis ball and stomping it to the floor. This KINDA simulates trying to stomp a guy's knee in. Again these bungee ones are good because you can strike HARD yet you have a near PERFECT size target, and yet, it's like you MISS so you have to teach that intuitive CONTROL that is MUCH like SPARRING. The balance associated with striking HARD yet MISSING is hard to replicate but the 3-ball straight-line rig works very well for it.

You mean from the position where you have your face covered with both arms and elbows? They would have to lunge in closer, to put any force behind that. At that moment you ram one of your elbows downward, onto their head. I'm not a martial arts instructor, but that would seem like the logical step to me.

Been watching your videos and I'm hooked.lol My question is when your striking you vocalize, is it to control your breathing or to put more power into your blows? Master Wong PEACE!

Good stuff but an attacker will go after your ribs once you cover your face such as at the 5:30 point. Notice how his entire core is open to take a shot.
