I have been practicing this for about 3 weeks. You are the first person to explain it so I can understand it. My first few were crooked and now I know why. Thanks. I subscribed

How do I make the back closed for this for the front and the back
@izzyscrochet28732 жыл бұрын
Hi! Just do the exact same thing, so you will have two trapezoidal pieces that you can sew together at the side seams. Alternatively, you could make a rectangle for the back (still sewn together at side seams), and then you would have more of a halter look, as opposed to racerback (which you would get with the first method I described)

Fast and easy...how do you determine the size or is this considered one size fits all
@izzyscrochet28735 жыл бұрын
Your starting chain can be any length (as long as it is an even number). Just hold it up on yourself and make it as long as you want to cover your neck/collarbone. Then the increases will naturally make the rest work out to fit according to that starting number of chain stitches. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions :)
@armaniithompson56815 жыл бұрын
Hi thank you for responding I am about to make one for my daughter but if I wanted to make one for someone who may be bigger or broader or larger than medium or small is there anyway to adjust sizing for instance so many chains would make a small so many chains would make a medium etc.....
@izzyscrochet28735 жыл бұрын
@@armaniithompson5681 In this video I started with a chain of 20 stitches, and I would say this fits a medium nicely. I've also made one starting with 22 chain stitches, which fit someone with a larger bust but smaller frame. It must be taken into account however, that both of these measurements were for tops made with worsted weight yarn and either a 4.5 or 5mm hook. If you are using those same materials, then I would recommend 16 or 18 chains for small, 20 or 22 for medium, and 24 or even 26 for large. Maybe start with 20 and then hold it up to your daughter just below her neck where you want the top of the halter to hit and see if you might need to add more. Let me know if you need anything else clarified!

I made an women's medium, but you can adjust to make any size by changing the number of chain stitches you start with

hey Izzy ! thank you for posting this video to help crochet lovers like me ! i am trying to make a wrap up top which means I have to decrease on one side but keep the other side straight how can I do this ? thank you
@izzyscrochet28738 жыл бұрын
I presume you are using double crochet. For the straight side... I like to chain 3 every time I start a new row and start double crocheting in the second stitch from the hook. This chain 3 counts as one normal double crochet, so when you are coming back, finish the next row with a double crochet into the 3rd chain. I'm not totally sure about decreasing - I actually find it easier to start at the small end and increase. You would do the same for the straight side as I described above, and for increasing you could probably use the same technique from this video, but just on one side... Chain 3 as you start a new row, but this time double crochet into the very first stitch (so the chain 3 + the double crochet = 2 double crochet equivalents). You might have to experiment with how often you need to increase. If you want to increase faster, then every third row you could add another double crochet into the very first stitch (so 3 double crochet equivalents). Hope this helps! I could try to work up a wrap top pattern for a video if you are interested in a better explanation.

Let me ask you every time you go down the line to raise the hook with the right foot? Like the second row you hook the same foot 2 times and the third row you hook the same foot 3 times. Is there any increase in that? I do not think so.
@izzyscrochet28736 жыл бұрын
Yes, both the 2nd and 3rd rows are increases: the 3rd increases by 2 stitches, while the 2nd only increases by 1 stitch. This is what forms the triangle shape along the edges of the halter. Does that answer your question?
@tandreasears35687 жыл бұрын
Very simple tutorial! Mine turned out great. But what do you use as a liner do cover the boob. Did i do something wrong?
@izzyscrochet28736 жыл бұрын
TAndrea Sears I got some jersey fabric in a matching color from the fabric store and cut out a triangle shape the same size as a top. I then hand sewed all around the edges to attach the fabric piece to the crochet.

How do I start a chain for the other ties?
@izzyscrochet28737 жыл бұрын
I threaded my new yarn through the stitch where I wanted the strap and tied a knot. Then I just started chaining from that same stitch.

What size would this be for and is adults or kids?
@izzyregonini35857 жыл бұрын
Crystal So Random it's a women's size medium. You could adjust to a kids size by chaining less stitches at the very beginning. As long as you have an EVEN number that covers the top of the chest.

How many yarn skeins did you use?
@izzyscrochet28737 жыл бұрын
Kalina Walker I think I used about 2/3 of a red heart super saver skein. So that's about 240 yards or 220 meters (this is just an estimate, I wasn't really paying attention to to how much I used). Hope that helps!

Kali OurWorld she meant pull through 2 loops and pull through 2 loops.
@izzyscrochet28737 жыл бұрын
Yes - I meant through 2 then through 2 again, so a normal double crochet stitch :)

how do you add on the straps???????????
@izzyscrochet28736 жыл бұрын
I pull a new piece of yarn through the stitch I want it attached to and tie a knot, then I insert my hook in the same stitch and draw a loop through from the newly-attached yarn. Then I just start making chain stitches. Hope this helps!
