Firstly thanks for the video - stumbling through my first non time sensitive project in nuendo. Couple of questions - Something about getting the cursor to behave like PT would be cool. It's been driving me nuts - but then I changed something and it seems to be doing what I want it to (think it might have been video follows edit plus the click in empty space option) 1'32 Love to see this used practically? I've got as far as selecting a range and hitting the up arrow till you get to the track you want, or breaking and dragging -Easy way of clicking on the track you want to move to and recall the should be possible then. 2'32 Clip gain - the closest thing to clip gain I've found is dragging the button at the top up and down - it'd be lovely if there was a way of seeing that value as per protools, but back to the pencil - can those points be moved around/modifiers for drawing a lline/ point at previous/next level option like PT? I've also found the offline effects which lets you change gain for one or all clips using that file, that bit is useful. 3'56 CMD and drag - just what I was looking for - was stuck using cmd/cntr (from the manual) which can only be pressed after mouse click - now clocked CMD works on whatever direction you start dragging - much better. 4'26 Marvellous 7'22 Typing fades - Just for a fade in and out not a crossfade - fade inside/outside object preference? Simplest way to put a 10ms (or whatever) xfade on everything if an aaf has opened up at 0? guessing it's select all and F It's been interesting. .

Regarding clip gain you can see the exact value above on the same tab where you see ( file name, extension , transpose , etc ) under name of (Volume) same thing apply on point of automation when you press on any point you can see the volume or level of this point. regarding the usage pencil on clip directly I don't use it because I found that using normal automations is more controllable and easy to do precisely and yes clip gain is considered as pregain while volume automation is post fader... if you want to control the closest thing to the clip gain from automation then you can play with something called ( PreGain) so you've the easy to use automations. another important feature I always turn on regarding automations ( press F6 to open automation panel then go to settings then enable - show data on tracks) then you can see the data while you're using the automations. the only difference now is that the data is not interactive like it is in the clip gain but still very great. you can set fade settings per project ( applied on everything ) or per track or per clip and to you always able to make macros for things you do frequently so it will safe you time and be under your commands whenever you want them applied.

heya - what did you end up doing to get the cursor to behanve like PT? I find it annoying I can't click just anywhere in the edit window and have the cursor play from there instead of having to always click in the above time ruler etc. Thanks!

Hey Guys. I‘m an Post Producer mainly for Radioplays, Games and Audiobooks. And about to Switch from Pro Tools to Nuendo. But theres one simple Editing Feature I absolutely need. Is there a function/shortcut to only fill the selection you made with the audio from the Cache? Like in Pro Tools alt+cmd+v. So that the selection, filled with audio from the Cache keeps the same length. Thanks

I don’t know what you mean by filling from the cache? Could you rephrase?
@MrManumendes
@MrManumendes 3 жыл бұрын
@@user-tm5rc8kv4n The Function in PT is called „Repeat to fill selection“ (alt+cmd+v). So when you have Roomnoise in your Clipboard/Cache, it will fill the selection you made with the Selection/Smart Tool. I found this workaround in the forum and will check it out: This has been a longstanding bugbear for me, as well; started posting about it back around N3. I’ve since learned to work around it, thanks to forum members and the macro function, and am probably happier with what I’m working with now than I would have been with a practical “fill range” solution. Not saying that we couldn’t have better here! I use, and I think a good handful of people here do, as well, a track dedicated to room tone, “fill looped” across the timeline; broken up as necessary for different scenes. It is placed directly underneath the working track in the project window. I have a macro assigned to my mouse wheel click that copies selected range from the track below (RT) and places it in the one above. A one-click fix. Certainly this does not work for all situations, but it’s done me well.

Does Nuendo allow automation follow events like Cubase? Thanks!

2:27 NO! Nothing similar with pro tools clip gain. At this very moment when you touched the clip with the pencil you've just made it quieter. And also - you cant make it louder with the pencil. So please don't say it's similar cause it's not. Absolutely not.
@meeshamusic
@meeshamusic 3 жыл бұрын
Well it’s probably not similar to the way it’s defined in PT. To change the overall gain of a clip you simply drag the clipgain line up (+24dB max) or down (- infinite dB). And use the fade in/out handles to create fades.
@hunghoangmusic
@hunghoangmusic 2 жыл бұрын
@@meeshamusic I know it’s a year since your reply, but you can just drag the WHOLE audio clip up/down but you CANNOT AUTOMATE the volume clip gain freely like “clip gain line” in PT. You can only automate with the “event envelope” in Nuendo (if I remember the name correctly) which ONLY makes the volume quieter, not louder
@meeshamusic
@meeshamusic 2 жыл бұрын
@@hunghoangmusic You can automate the level of a clip (or audio track for that matter) louder bij riding the fader, or drawing the volume line in the automation lane which allows you add up to +12dB of gain.
@hunghoangmusic
@hunghoangmusic 2 жыл бұрын
@@meeshamusic I'm aware that I can do volume fader automation, but you have to keep in mind that it's completely different than clip gain automation, why? because clip gain automation is pre-fader, which mean the automation will be applied before any plugin processing applied after that, volume fader automation is post-fader, which means it will rase/low the volume of the ENTIRE signal + the effect you put on the insert slots, which is totally different
@meeshamusic
@meeshamusic 2 жыл бұрын
@@hunghoangmusic Ah, I get what you mean. But why would you want to automate Clip gain? In my workflow, the clip gain is set to an appropriate value so that it's level is workable, and if I need dynamic adjustments of the level I use fader automation. I personally have never felt the need to automate clip gain. To me, clip gain is simply a general overall level adjustment of a specific clip. Ig there are significant adjustments required within a clip I simply split the clip and adjust each segment manually.
