Thank you so much! This has cleared up quite a bit! However, how does one get a straight line at the top of the lace? To have a clean starting point vs the mini peaks from the ground in this one?

I don't have a video of that start but suggest you look for 'starting with a straight footside' or 'starting straight across'. Please let me know if you find it.

this one is different from the footside I learned where you pin under 4. Is this a different type of footside? Also where would I get this pattern to practice. Is it online where I can download it? Thanks for doing videos for lacemaking.

This is the most basic footside - the pin under 4 is also called the straight footside and is the most commonly used one now. I have put the pattern in the brandis.com.au/Downloads/index.html
