@@GaliciaBee Oh the last thing I need is to disappear into another semi dead art but now that I actually understand some things the barriers of self control are crumbling. Im still a little lost on translating the notations into actions. Though I have the feeling that much like crochet this hobby has two brutal learning curves. The basic motions and the pattern language. Between being gifted an ashford spinning wheel, attempting to completely restore my antique singer treadle, learning historical sewing, crochet, and cross stitch… I really need to figure out how to delegate some specialties.

Hello! I am a beginner and would like to know why you twist twice at the ends. What is the reasoning behind it? Also, how do you know by looking at the pattern which pins have one or two pairs of bobbins? Do you have tutorials on how to read patterns? Thank you for your videos!
@GaliciaBee7 ай бұрын
Hi! Do you mean at the end of the rows? You can twist once or twice at the ends of the rows. It helps keep the row in place. Does that make sense?

Hi!! So sorry I didn't see your message right away! Generally speaking you would load 3x the length of your pattern. 😀

@coastymom13 Жыл бұрын
I am just learning this beautiful art. I have a question when following a pattern how do you know what stitches to use the cloth stitch or the half stitch? Also on the more complicated patterns how do you know which way to go and how do you know how many Bobbins ‘s to start with? I’ve watched tutorials. I have an idea on how to do the stitches but I’m not sure how to follow a pattern.
@GaliciaBee Жыл бұрын
Hello! Usually the pattern will indicate which stitch to use & how many pairs of bobbins. On complicated patterns it can depend a bit. We hope for clear written instructions, but when there aren't any, we often need to examine a finished work (or photo of a finished work) to determine how to make a piece. I like to write in the top corner of my patterns how many bobbins I use, so that when I make the pattern again I don't have to guess. The number of bobbins can vary within a piece, but generally speaking, to begin a piece I will look at how many pin holes are along the top of the pattern to determine how many pairs are needed. :)

Hi Sarah, I purchased the beginner patterns that accompany these videos and I'm trying to figure out if my printer glitched. The whole stitch pattern calls for 9 bobbins to start or 6? Or can you do either? Because in the video you use 6.
@GaliciaBeeАй бұрын
6 pairs! :) If you used 9 pairs, you would need to add more pins across the top at the start.
@georginagriffin7822 Жыл бұрын
I noticed you twist the color being woven across. Do you twist the outside bobbins also? (The white pair on the left after weaving the working threads, dark teal.)

You absolutely can! I usually do, in order to keep some tension there at the end of the row.

Nope, doesn't fall apart. :) Stays together because of all the twists in the thread.
@patrycjakapkin49114 ай бұрын
so going back as in row 2, you do the exact same movement in the same directions? Not a mirroring of the movement? You didn't exactly go slow "returning" with row 2, and i think that's what i saw?

Exact same movements. 😊
