Sounds great. Would love to have some more info on the 7 and 3 chords. I'm a little confused about how to build them and exactly where the notes are in the scales. When I put the notes in a chord finder, it came up with C#m7#5 & F#7 add(#5). I love the sound of the chords, but want to understand what I'm playing also. Thanks!
@SajeMode5 жыл бұрын
agreed! .... Especially that 3 chord for me!
@davidmarquiss79695 жыл бұрын
If you look around for some videos on ii-V-I progressions that should clear it up. In the first example, he's basically 'setting up' each of the original chords with a 'ii-V', so E - C#m - A - B becomes E - (D#m7b5-G#7) -C#m - (Bm7-E7) - A - B, with the bits in brackets being the ii-V of the chord that comes next. Try thinking of the chord progression as I - vi - IV - V, but with a 'ii-V' in C#m before the vi chord, and a 'ii-V' in A before the IV chord. To work out the ii and V chords in the first case, you have to think in the key of C# minor, rather than in E, and to get the second ii-V, you have to think in A major. Basically, any time you do a ii-V-I progression, you're briefly changing to a new key. It happens all over the place in gospel and in jazz - you can pretty much precede any chord with a ii-V and you'll get this kind of decoration.

I didnt get everything but I learned a few things to help me.... no one shows how to go through a major or minor chord scale without using bar chords but this was helpful to help me try to peace it together myself.... the problem is that there is more than one way to voice a chord and you can invert the chord and you can make substitutions etc.... but this video helped me what the dim 7 and 4 without using G on the bas and.... playing minor 6 and 5 without bar ing the root..... thank you. and another thing that Ive noticed is many of these chords have multiple names depending on what the root and position is....

Professional vs volunteer... ugh. "Simple chord progression" he says. Even the simple bit is complicated. Plays "the 1" @1:22 i.e. 7 different chords THEN goes to "the 6" at 1:29, does some stuff then plays "the 4" at 1:34.... you get my point. Even the plot lines have plot lines.

Its not really the 7, its a II V to the VI chord. C#m7 F#7#5 to Bm7. Then a II V to the IV chord. Am7 D to G. Make sense? Hes throwing in II V progressions to spice the changes up.

So due to the fact that you're making reference to 7 3 6 m5 1 4 chord progression I'm assuming one needs knowledge of the Nashville numbers system and can't just jump into this video with basic knowledge. Thus being said, perhaps it would be a great idea to mention this in the heading so no one goes as far as to dive right in. Other than that, nicely done ...
