Try to get soil that doesn’t contain peat moss, since peat moss substrates are harmful to the environment. Timberline is a good brand. Mix it with some playsand.

When i get mine i might never let one of my friends touch it because dhe has a bearded dragon, who is quite lovable and docile, but she said she was "training " it by "gently" hitting it on one side so it'll move when she just put her hand next to it, yeah it didn't rlly make sence to me but, sadly, i didn't say anything because i thought she had researched and knew what she was doing, she was upstairs with it and i heard her say "ow!" And i got suspicious but didn't say anything, when she got downstairs she was mad and told us not to let him out... i got pretty sad because shes punishing him for defending himself... i wish he had a better home.

I am sorry for your loss, I know how you feel. I had a gecko for 7 years and we moved from 3 different states at the time. But soon he passed away due to age. I was very sad but eventually I got 2 more and one was very rude and would not let me take care of him and he would not eat while the other passed away from eating too much food. I was very confused and also very sad. I started to try and try to feed my other gecko named wonder that would not eat and had a lot of mouth rot. Although our family surprisingly could not afford a vet! So I had to try and make this gecko in his comfort zone. And eventually, he did! As our can see the gecko that was taken care of is in my profile picture! But also just be happy about how long you had your buddy and remember that your friendship is still close no matter where he is. 😔😇

My poor babe is 6 and I just recently got her the powder with nutrience and not just calcium. She is improving. She sheds regularly and eats and drinks beautifully as well as being active 😊 she's all pink, her name is calypso.

thank you so much for this video, I got my leopard gecko when I was a little kid and wasn't properly educated on care and handling, and neither were my parents (who had to be the primary caregivers for a little bit cause I didn't know what I was doing). I've become more responsible for her now and since then have been trying to recognize the failures in my knowledge and care and making sure that I'm giving her the best care possible. This stuff really really helps and me and Speedy (the gecko) appreciate it so so much!!

Hi there, I have a young leopard gecko that we rescued from a man that had no idea how to take care of her. She was very skinny when we got her but she has since fattened up thanks to your videos. She is having her second shed since we took her in but I noticed that the skin on the tip of her nose does not seem to come off. Is this something I should worry about or should I help her remove it somehow?

If she looks like she's struggling remove it. If it's on too long remove it.

I have been advised to use the end of a moistened Q-Tip to gently help nudge that extra shed. Make sure the Q-Tip isn't too wet as to NOT allow water to possibly get into your little one's nostrils. If she has problems in the future with complete sheds, then I'd suggest a warm bath, while keeping her head above the water of course. Leos usually eat their own shed, but kinda hard when a bit is stuck on the tip of your nose, I can imagine. I am a new juvenile Leopard Gecko mom so I have done TONS of research, but have mainly relied on these videos done by this amazing lady and her amazing Geckos. #Leopard Gecko - I watched and cried with you while I watched your vid about Isla's death. If she's still alive at this moment, my major bad for the spoiler alert. These vids aren't dated, so I have no idea if you even have Isla, but just wanted you to know, I am a huge fan and subbed right after watching you the first time, and always turn to you for advice. Hello! I recently acquired a Leopard Gecko from a friend.This was quite the surprise, especially since I only have experience with Crested Geckos. I started my research, and my local pet shop told me that I need sand and a basking lamp. Sadly, I listened to them. Luckily, the following day I discovered your channel. I could not believe what I had been told. I quickly went back to the store and purchased a larger tank, EcoEarth, and a heating pad. So, I just wanted to say how thankful I am for your videos. They are much more educational than the pamphlet from the pet store, and literally saved my Leopard Gecko. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Keep up the amazing work!

Larissa Pietrzak eco earth is hardly any better than sand.. i recommend reptile carpet, paper towels, shelf liner, or if you want natural, excavator clay. Eco earth is not meant for leo’s! it’s meant to hold moisture and humidity which leo’s don’t need except for one hide.

I don’t know how old my guy is, the owner said he was a male .. he is about 5 in long with a healthy size tail. Thank you so much for this video! I have never owned a reptile before so I am pretty inexperienced. Even though I watched a lot of videos on how to care for leopard geckos most of the information was incorrect. For example, I bought my leopard gecko from a petstore:(. I also purchased a leopard gecko tank that included things that leopard geckos should not have. For example, it included sand, a cheap thermometer, and a red light. As I watched this video I realized that I am doing A LOT of things wrong. Thankfully I recently got my gecko so I can redo his tank and make him happy and healthy.

Please don’t let your dogs and gecko interact! That’s just asking for something to go wrong. They’re predator and prey. It doesn’t benefit either animal, and incredibly risky. Your dog could seriously injure or kill your gecko. Your gecko could drop their tail. Even if the dog doesn’t do anything, it is very stressful for the gecko.

You just hawve to be patient. Handle your gecko for at least 10 mins a day.. And over time. They get used to you and actually come to you, when they eventually feel safe/comfortable 😊
