Thank you very much for this excellent orientation. I especially appreciate that you used the actual names for the instruments rather than the acronyms. On most of the tours I've watched the tour guide starts using acronyms and they lose me. Thanks again.

Last question, promise. Newbie question: When flying a basic Traffic Pattern around runway. When you take off & climb to altitude then make a left 90 degree bank for crosswind direction- How do you know how far to fly in that direction flying a small Cessna plane? Does one use a stop watch or read miles away from airport to know when to make another left bank turn to line you up at the downwind part of the course? What’s the easiest way to know you flew out 1 mile or 2 miles away of runway? One May fly out 5 miles on downwind portion to get to 45 degree mark with runway at 8 o’clock to make another left turn but how does learn to make last left turn to line up with runway on final approach & not over shoot runway then need to backtrack? Thanks

Great video, Thank for posting! Do small planes have or use “Wind Gauges or Wind Indicators?” I know runways might have devices or wind socks but is there any inside cockpit? Displaying wind direction & wind speeds? I know my small sailboat has that gauge to help me align my sails etc.

How would you get a reading other than your movement through the air?

The hash marks on the turn coordinator do not indicate 15 degrees of bank, they indicate the rate of turn (3 degrees per second). I believe you meant to say, at cruise speed in a Cessna 172 the bank angle would be around 15 degrees for a standard rate turn.

I cant imagine flying without analog guages... computers can and will crash sooner or later... im perfectly happy with analog only, but would never fly with computer only... unless VFR only... Death valley California is something like 200 feet below seal level... 😁🤓

That’s my greatest fear. A cyberattack that leaves your 10” screens dead. But I also think that getting rid of vacuum system is a nice safety feature. So a mix between analog and glass is my go to option.
