@Rawrkee yeah I know. That's also how I feel about changing my clutch on my 8th gen Si. It looks so intimidating. Maybe one day I'll get the courage to change it.

SAMEEEEE, I bought a clutch kit for the Si awhile back but since I got a z3 trans for the prelude kswap, I'ma just use it on the prelude instead because I don't feel like taking apart the civic rn haha @@saulreynoso4371

I’m just about to start k swapping my prelude as well so I like being able to watch you go along with the process as well. Have you thought about the mounts you’re gonna use because that’s the only trouble I’m thinking of running into

Those marks on the bearings are called scoring. It’s basically where there wasn’t enough proper oil flow to the bearings to have them lubricated enough while they were spinning. Chances are that tensioner broke and the engine lost the oil pump and wasn’t running the proper oil pressure to all those bearings properly.

Bro, I really hope so! I’ve been debating if I should send the whole thing to get machined but I guess we’ll find out after she’s in 😆 And yeah man, I’ve spent so much so far that I’m starting to budget on some parts for now >_

Hope that rebuild don’t fail within a few hundred miles. Those are too tight of a tolerance. I would shoot for .0015in for mains and rod bearing clearances. Better to go on the loose side of things than a spun bearing.

just curious i also own a 2000 prelude sh and was wondering about the wiring like how difficult is the k swap on these> id like to do a swap but would like to retain most of the oem controls in mine such as cluster and heat and all that

I’m actually working on the wiring now. It’s a pretty simple concept. You need an engine harness, charge harness, and conversion harness. The conversion harness is how the k series ecu and engine will communicate with the chassis. It’s only like 9 wires and I’m pretty confident that I figured out how they’re setup. Can’t confirm until the swap is done though

Just curious. Last I read there isn't aftermarket motor mounts. I've heard people fab them up? Is there an aftermarket motor mount now or what's your plan? Also curious about the tranny. Is the h22 compatible or do you got to go after that too? Intrigued and curious. I'm feeling fairly slow in my prelude. 😢

no, there currently isn't a kswap kit for 5th gen preludes but Hasport has been mentioning it in their videos that they're working on one. I'll be using the 4th k swap kit from Hasport which will require me to create one bracket. And no, you must use a k series transmission, I'll be using the 8th gen civic si transmission on this swap. I know what you mean, the prelude feels super slow compared to my civic which is heavier haha

Can you pass smog with it? What state are you in?

It depends on how strict your state is. In Cali, people said you have to retain all of the RSX original components for emissions along with an unmodified ecu. I’m in North Carolina now but I’m not sure of the smog requirements here 😬
