Basic kumite karate fighting technique tutorial | Defense and Counterattack Techniques | Part 3
Originally, in Shotokan Karate, Kumite was a form in which two face-to-face fighters practiced attack, defense, and movement techniques. Starting with Gohon kumite, the practitioner will perform the movement techniques step by step, in a certain sequence of punching and blocking techniques for attack and defense.
Later, through a long development process, Kumite became more diverse, which allowed martial artists to use diverse techniques in combat. Kumite is currently very diverse including basic Kumite, Kumite in real combat and Kumite in competition.
