Hey bob it’s currently 2:40 am my father has ALS. My mother is his care taker. He had an accident and she required my help to get him up so she can clean him. As I was helping I kept thinking there has to be a way where I can have a pulley of some sort to help with a task such as this. So I came to KZbin. Thank you so much for this video and for helping ppl in this situations. This video is a few years old yet I see in the comments some 6years ago,2years, few months, and now me commenting in 2024. You’re helping so many ppl still. Bless you.

Instead of wasting several thousand dollars on a lift that requires an aide (human) to use, I just purchased 2 pulleys and a winch. Turns out they make winches with remote controls. Thank you for this video. What you created is brilliant!

Hi Bob. As a 53 year old Brit retired dental technician with muscular dystrophy, I found you and the presentation of your website and videos inspirational as well as being informative from a technical perspective....it's given me an implementation idea or two of my own. I wish you all the very best for the future.

Awesome Bob, I was going through lots of videos and saw yours. Hope you're doing well. I had Polio and am getting older. Nothing available seems to address staying independent. What you can find is outrageously priced as you seem to address in your video. Thanks for sharing, it will help so many with your and other afflictions that the medical handicap industry does not concern itself with. They primarily focus on just the mass market to rake in the $$$$ instead of helping us outliers. Great inspiring video! PS, it's an old video, 6yrs, I truly hope you are still doing well. God Bless and keep on pushing forward.

This is incredible, I found this for building something for dogs who are difficult to work with and possibly dangerous for certain reasons. I hope to help them safely be able to get the treatments they need without injury to themselves or the humans. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for your videos I've been watching them for a while.😊 My son at 8 was struck with ALDwhich is basically ALS that hits little boys. He had a bone marrow transplant and he's in remission but a late diagnosis left him complete Care in as you say no muscle strength at all although he can move when he stretches. I have used your videos to modify so many things Even in our camper van.

Anyone want to see what courage looks like? This guy has enough for all of us. Anyone want to see what cowardice looks like? US Congress. Liars, cowards and traitors. So different.

My wife has severe MS. I’ve been planning to build something like this but the winch scares me. In a malfunction it could kill her with thousands of lbs of force. I bought a 12 volt lift actuator with a 10” stroke. I’m planning to build a leverage system she can use in the bathroom to hoist herself off her wheelchair and onto the toilet and back to the wheelchair by herself. I work so I’m gone all day.

Wow..that's just cool. Buying anything with a medical tag on it will cost a bunch of money.

Great work man ! May i have a question for you, Did you have to adapt the controller (BT SYSTEM) ? Cos i own the same type of motors (winch) but the controller has a wire and it's not comfortable to me.

Where can you buy the independent body lifter that you sit on?
