It is an easy to follow pattern and accessible instruction. A warning should be made, that the hat might come out extra large.

There's a formula I saw in another video... 1. Measure your head diameter, it could be in cm or inches. 2. Divide that number with Pi (3.1416) 3. That number would be the ideal distance from the center of your head to your forehead. Example: My head=52cm/21in 52/π= 17(rounded) 21/π=7in(rounded) Please like this so I can paste the link of the original video. The thing I'm still figuring out is the border which is explained here.

Hi great tutorial! So I came here with worsted weight yarn and a 4.5mm hook. It fits hubby perfectly. Thank you.

I did try but I will need to do the hat over again because the hat came out really large so I messed up somewhere. I have not crotchet in 30 years and your project is the 2nd one I try. Thank you for your video.

Oh no! Did you use the same hook size and yarn? If so, your gauge may be off. Take a measurement and compare that to the gauge listen in the pattern. If you count fewer stitches per inch, drop down a hook size or two when you start over. Also, you may have a look at this pattern which is available in 7 different sizes: kzbin.info/www/bejne/maDNmntrap6jjsk

Use a 5.5 mm hook, I did the gauge with the called for 6.5mm and it was way too big, I had to do some decreases on the last rows and switch to a smaller hook and now it looks kinda weird

But I get wider gaps where I join with the chain at the end of each round... It's very visible, what am I doing wrong?

Same. And its so big!
@starkeybiz4 жыл бұрын
You may be putting your hook in the space between the chain 3 you did at the beginning of the round and the stitch, rather than putting it under the next stitch.

Ivory-Swan you could go up a crochet hook size I was taught don't know if that helps x

Hook size is 6.5 mm but you can use it according to your yarn. Also click on the first link in description to know more.

so mine came out as a round flat pancake 😭 🤦🏻♀️ what did i do wrong? i followed everything bit by bit
@bhookedcrochet4 жыл бұрын
When you stop increasing, the sides should automatically start to curl to create the sides of the hat. Sounds like there may have been an issue with the stitch counts in your rounds?

I crocheted per the instruction but my hat seems way to small for an average man’s head. It’s only half way across the head above the ears. Can I continue the band pattern to make the hat a bit longer?

I will not recommend this tutorial because the circumference of the hat is too wide that it cannot fit anyone if you are trying it pls only increase till row five and continue with 50 stitches🙏🏻
@bhookedcrochet4 жыл бұрын
The circumference of this hat finished is 22-23" which is the average men's hat size. If your hat is bigger than that, your gauge is likely different (measuring more stitches per inch) and you need to change hook sizes to obtain gauge. Or if this hat circumference is bigger than you're looking for, check out this tutorial of a similar hat that's available in 7 different sizes: kzbin.info/www/bejne/maDNmntrap6jjsk
