A 4" back splash would be nice to stop bits and pieces from falling off the back. Once you get drawers in it's gonna be a pain in the neck to retrieve whatever falls back there. I have a similar set up except I did a level toe kick and open cabinets. I installed 1/2" plywood over the stud wall then scribed my worktop to it. Spriral downcut router bits are the bomb. Zero tear out.

There's a chart that tells you what size to use for what thickness material. For 1.5" material it's the 2.5" screws

Great job, it reminds me of my workbench build with the pocket hole joinery and shellac. You were spot on sanding between coats and doing so will yield a great looking smooth finish. 👍🏼

Depends on the saw, you'll need to take that into account when you decide on the size of the middle piece

Hello Patriot. Your video has inspired me to build my own miter station almost exactly like yours. I need to ask you if you dimensioned your 2x4s for this build. They look straight and they are all the same color but I did see some manufacturing stamps on them which led me to believe you did not plane or square them up. How important is it that you plane and square up these 2x4s for this build? Thank you and keep up the great work. You made it look so easy - but I'm a beginner and I'm sure I will have a harder time than you did. Maybe not though - with your video to reference I should be okay. Thanks again.

Thanks! No I did not mill these 2x4s, I just buy Prime 2x4s from Home Depot, they tend to have the best lumber. If you need help with the build I have a link to digital plans in the description!

Bought the plans a couple weeks ago and am going to get started next week. What router bit did you use to cut that daddo for the measuring tape? And I'm assuming you would recommend cutting that before dropping the t-track in? Lastly...bring on Part 2! 😂

this bench is 15' long and 2' wide. The middle section for the saw should be made to whatever width you need for your specific saw.

@tree9851 you could definatly use 1 if you want but 2 is stronger, better for clamping to and gives you the extra thickness needed to add the t track

I just bought the plans and mine do not show the long side upper runners in the cut sheets. Does the materials list reflect this and on the cut sheet it just forgot to get added, or do I need to add this to the material list as well?

No. just makes for a much stronger bench that will last, especially with an 8ft length 2 sheets will help prevent sagging. And if you dont glue it your top layer can be removed and replaced easily if you want. and yes, it accommodates t track.

Probably because he has a slider and needs space at the rear of the saw. I have the Dewalt 12 slider and that pulls the saw away from the wall a lot.
