Hello. We bale Teff and lusern and a barn owl has made a nest with 12 chicks in the hay. The mom only comes once in a while to feed the chicks. When you come closer, she flies away. Thanks for commenting! No, in my opinion they would not be okay for them to eat as a main source of food because rabbits and squirrels are power food and I've known owls who just dropped dead because their owners gave them to much power food at once or for a too long period of time. Owls don't constantly catch rabbits and squirrels in the wild either. Barn owls mainly catch mice and rats and maybe an occasional rabbit if they're lucky. Don't get an owl if you can't find one day old chicks in your country... It will end badly...

Sometimes they are adopted from adoption centrums because they aren't be able to go in the wild. Sometimes they get sold but before you say "a wild creature" alot of animals we keep are wild or need more space then people recommend. As long you take more then good care for whatever you want it can even be alligator. And in this video you can tell she loves her owl very much. Also if the owl is stressed or in bad condition you can tell right away
