📸 Follow me on insta to see more of Fig!! @its.lilycameron EDIT: Watch me get a bunny friend for Fig! Link in description lots of you asked why I didn’t consider adoption: I did! 😊 I was open to it and looked into some shelters near me but there weren’t any bunnies or lops when I looked - they aren’t as common where I live. Shopping from small ethical family breeders who question each customer to make sure they’re prepared to provide a good home before selling is not the problem, chain pet stores who over-breed in poor conditions are! (My breeder has a policy where if you’re considering rehoming or sheltering one of her bunnies just bring it back to her and she will take it in, so she isn’t contributing to shelter rabbits) ❤️Adopt or shop responsibility ❤️ Another question was why didn’t I get two? It’s definitely on the cards for the future! Right now it’s not possible, and it’s not feasible for everyone to get two as some bunnies just don’t play well with others (fighting, territorial etc). I will definitely look into it more after getting Fig neutered ❤️ … If you’ve been watching you know this was coming!!! 💕 Since I work from home I wanted a companion and this little baby is now my bestie, I can’t wait for you to see him in my next work from home vlog 🥺

Hey! Bunny owner here. I can tell you’ll be a great bunny owner. I just wanted to give a few tips because my bunny is rather fearful and an handful so I learned a few things through the 4 years I’ve had her. The main thing I would say is just keep an eye on those pee pads because With me I had to stop using em because she kept chewing them up and trying to eat them for some reason. The other big thing is try not to pick up your bunny TOO much (I made that mistake and now all the time she runs and thumps at me cuz she thinks I’m gonna pick her up and I feel bad) and lastly on Amazon there’s a type of pet stroller that says it’s for dogs but it works amazing for rabbits too! I bought it for mine a few years back and she loves it! That’s all the tips I have. I hope they were a lil helpful and I Hope you and your bunny bond well!

hey! bunny owner here :) i just wanted to say your doing a great job at being a bun mom so far! one thing I want to mention is if you do get another bunny in the future there are lots of animal shelters with rabbits in need of a home, and they often come spayed/neutered so you dont have to worry abt the expense as getting my bun spayed was very expensive (but worth it obviously lol). Ik you mentioned you like lop eared rabbits (which shelters often don't have) but lops tend to be the bulldogs of rabbit breeds bc they often have many more health concerns due to the state of their ears and their snouts, as the way their bred makes them cute but causes more issues with their teeth, eyes, nose and ears. also no hate! just though it was important to consider and be aware of

@@itslilycameron Perhaps someone else has mentioned this in your comment section too, but be sure your bunny chooses their friend. Bunnies, especially usually the does, are very territorial. You might be surprised it can go either very easy or very difficult! But there are many tips, even on KZbin about bonding bunnies, so would highly suggest looking at those if you go that route. Sometimes shelters will offer this service too for a (small) fee. Good luck and have lots of fun with your rabbit! Once they bond with you, you have a best buddy for life. Edit: To add, and maybe you also already know this, but as a fellow lop-ear owner I want to add to be sure to pay attention to any nose/breathing issues as well as to keep an eye out on their ears and eyes. They tend to have more quickly rubbish in their eyes, which you can easily keep clean, but just a point to keep in mind. I have to clean my lop's eyes quite often. And as for their ears, as they are pointed down naturally, that can also cause ear infections more easily. Think of ear wax build-up, ear mites, etc. Hope this helps!
@klover_leaf3 ай бұрын
Your comments on lops is actually false! No breed is more or less susceptible to health problems. Bracy rabbits don't exists, all of them have the exact same skull length for their size. Ethical breeders don't breed rabbits with maloclusion. It's a genetic disorder that should NEVER be bred.
@AnoukMali78997 ай бұрын
Have you considered adoption? While breeders keep breeding, thousands of dumped pets end up in rescues. Also bunnies need a bunny friend.

And if there was 0 breeders eventually there would be none but those in wild. The breeders are not to blame or punish the people adopting animals without research or for others who might not want them or might not be ready for them are the problem. Yes unwanted bunnies need more consideration but don't judge others who are serious and adopting from breeders.

My partner and I have two adopted rabbits and they are beautiful gentle creatures full of personality. Bunnie's require a lot more care than most folks understand so glad you have done your research on caretaking. If you have the opportunity to find a partner for the rabbit, while not necessary, it is a massive quality of life improvement, and cool part is it doesn't have to be immediate, it can be down the road when you have the resources. I know from hours of research that the UK HAS THE MOST available options for bunny bonding services, so if bonding proved to be too much trouble you can seek those services. We had to use a bonding service and after two weeks they went from being very territorial in separate spaces, to best friends.

It helps with their litter training if bunny is spayed/neutered when they become of age! For males as early as 3 or 4 months usually! Also a disclaimer, lops are most prone to health issues so finding a good vet and having insurance/a good amount saved in case of emergencies is always good! Alfalfa hay until 6 months and its best to not give pellets with extra additives like seeds and treats/nuts! Id also call vet clinics around you and see what places offer the rhdv vaccine bc not all of them do (if you havent already), domestic and wild rabbits are effected and its fatal. I love the dude that said its dangerous outside for the rabbit bc its so true!!

You’re doing an amazing job 🥰 thank you for giving Fig such a lovely home! A couple of tips from a bunny mum, 2 out of my 3 bunnies developed teeth issues, so please do the regular teeth checks at the vets, I believe they recommend at least every 6 months so you can stay on top of it. Lots of coarse hay usually does the trick which it looks like you’ve got nailed already. Second tip, whilst it’s important you feel confident holding him for vets visits ect, please don’t pick him up all the time. Bunnies just don’t like it, even if they have a really calm temperament it’s not good for bonding. And never tip them on their backs, it can be very distressing and quite dangerous - this is more for you to be aware of when others handle your bun (some vets don’t have a lot of bunny knowledge)❤

Get pet liners, these can go in the cage area where the litter box and food/water bowls are. I use guinea pig liners with the absorbant Uhaul liner in the middle. That plastic is dangerous if the bunny bites and eates it. The liner you are using could be a danger also if the bunny nips at it. Cover it with a fleece blanket. Good luck. Plus we have our special needs son who lives with us and enjoys the bunny. So I don’t see him having a second bun at all in the future. He is to content and happy with his life with us. He runs around my 2,240 sq ft Ranch. 🙃 and gets to see chickens outside on my property through the glass French doors and low windows that he jumps up to. You will know if yours needs a friend or not. It’s not all the same. Just like some cats don’t like other cats and wants to be alone like a Queen or King! This is your journey with your baby! He’s a gorgeous little ball of fur! 🤍🖤🤍 Enjoy!

Hi there! Congrats on your new bunny! But I would 100% suggest going out and buying baby bunny pellets and alfaalfa hay. I know it might seem like the best idea to use whatever the breeder has provided to you and I dont mean to come off like a Karen😭 but baby bunnies need unlimited pellets for the first 6 months or so and it would definitely be better to provide him a bowl of pellets instead! (The oxbow baby pellets are great.) And I believe @/sincerely, cinnabun here on youtube has videos discussing the same which I suggest you check out. Best of luck to you and your bunny on this new journey!

In case no one else has mentioned it, I would HIGHLY advise against using that bubble wrap and pee pads as there’s a good chance he’ll chew them and it will cause a blockage. Also, you should look into ordering hay in bulk from a farm as it’s way more cost effective and you get enough to last u a few months, depending on the size of bale u buy. The hay in that bag you bought won’t last very long even with a baby. He’s sooooo cute and I can’t wait to check back for more bunny videos! 🐰💞

I have about 3 bunnies and I have some tips. First of... your doing literally a amazing job, like honestly. It makes me so happy to see someone dedicated to getting a bunny and doing proper research. I would say if possible try to expand his pen/cage a bit more, especially if hes a lop he will get much bigger. Im so relieved to see you didnt get a pet store cage, those are not a proper home fore bunnies. I would also try to add maybe some old blankets in there to make it comfier, my bunnies like to "make their bed" with the blankets and it keeps them very entertained. To absorb the pee if you just go to the store or the dollar store and get dish mats or any sort of absorbent mats and bath mats, trust me its a life saver. When they get peed on or get dirty all you have to do it run them through the washer and dryer. If your looking for nice mats and cage liners try The pig room. The products and website is directed towards Guinea pigs the products and treats are safe for bunnies. The pig room is also a KZbin channel and the guy who runs it has a bunch of bunnies he rescues and gives great information and tips about bunnies.Lastly, maybe try to find more enrichment for him, like I said the pig room is great for that stuff. Amazon has pellet balls, and you just fill them with pellets or peaflakes and they will push it aound to try an get them out. Rabbits love lettuce and veggies, mine love pea flakes. There are certian herbs you can give them and you can buys bags or herbs that are prepared and safe for bunnies. Honestly your doing great, this makes me so happy to find someone actually caring about the needs of bunnies. I know that was a lot to read, and im not sure you will see this but if you do I hope this helps.

Out of curiousity, why only one? Rabbit are social creatures who can experience loneliness when they aren't with at least one other bunny. Please keep an eye out for abnormal behaviour. And like, baby bunny waiting lists? There are quite a lot in shelters :(

Great job to you for doing all this research when you decided to take in a bunny, even though you had never thought about it before! So many people get a bun without knowing how to properly care for them and not expecting how expensive they can get. And your little fluff ball looks absolutely lovely

Yep I’ve also said it’s on the cards for the future, fig will probably have a friend one day but some bunnies I’ve heard just don’t get along well with other bunnies, (fights, etc) so it’s not always feasible to have two. my friend Lauras bunny is 10 years old a very happy bunny with his owners working from home ❤️ I’m open to it though! 😊

I don't wanna sound rude either, but I'm so tired of hearing stuff like this. It shouldn't just be "on the cards in the future" - rabbits are social animals full stop. Yes, bonding is hard, but there are tips out there on how it can be done successfully, you just gotta do your research. There are way too many yotubers with only single rabbits... y'all are setting a bad example

Hey !! Your bunny is absolutely adorable and it’s great seeing a beginner bunny owner put so much care and research. I’ve had my bunny for almost 7 years, and can confirm unless you stay home A LOT the bunny will benefit greatly from another bunny. The only time I don’t recommend another bunny if your rabbit is old and very scared of socializing (such as in my case) and even then I talked to my vet first. Make sure you get them spayed/neuter before two years old, and Alfalfa hay is better for the first 8 months or so then transition to Timothy hay. The baby pellets help too if your rabbit is a picky eater. As for pee pads, some rabbits hate them and rip them up!! A big litter box or even using a hutch base as a giant box can make it more cozy and allow more room for them (but this requires much more space). Of course when ur rabbit is at least a year, try not to keep them caged at all they will get very lonely. I hope you the best in your bunny journey, this is such a sweet video

Hii! Thank you for sharing a new member of your family, Fig! I have a lop named Coffee that I also got from a breeder. I also love how you did your research prior to adopting! What some people don’t know or consider is that there are some breeders who put down bunnies at an early age cause they are not considered “sellable” anymore. Altogether, I had three (3) bunnies my oldest passed away this year at 13 but two (2) of my bunnies were from breeders. I still considered alternatives but in my city at time didn’t have adoptions for bunnies. After picking them up I found out that my bunnies who were only 4-6 months at the time (from different sellers) were going to be put down and sold as pet food. p.s. I am not saying it’s either wrong or right but that all bunnies deserve a chance of a loving home and a well treat owner. I believe it was fate that led me to meet my bunnies ❤️. We all learn as we go as bun owners!
