I love seeing more South African photography KZbin channels. My friends in Jozi are bewailing the endless rain while it's been blazing here in Cape Town. I fully agree about the benefits of using film photography to consider what you're photographing before pressing the shutter release. I've also shot a lot of images on a Yashica D (although mine has been neglected for a while) and I have also gone through using Fuji with converted lenses to using Fuji with cheap Chinese primes (which I love). Of course this wouldn't be a KZbin comment if I didn't bitch about a personal hangup. The word "zoom". I think it's super confusing to young photographers and is best dealt with early on. Zoom is the function of changing focal length and has no regard for whether the focal lengths in question are long or short. A 10-24mm lens is a zoom lens while a 600mm prime is not. I feel like it's important to clarify that a zoom lens is a variable focal length lens and a telephoto or long lens is a lens that magnifies the subject in a narrow field of view. Zoom contrasts with prime or "fixed focal-length" (as you suggest). And wide contrasts with telephoto or long. Anyway. Pet peeves aside, I'm subscribed and looking forward to following the channel.
