This was a very fun video. To answer your question though. Nooo Only Growth! Haha I also have a significant GAS problem. I'll try to get a few by format. Medium - GFX-50s, Phase One DF and DF+, Aptus 22, P45 Full Frame - A7 III, 1Dx, 1Ds, 1Ds II, 5DC, 5D2, A99, D600, D800, D3s APSC (or H)- X-T1, X-T3, D200, D80, K3, K5, Rebel XT, 30D, 40D, Fuji S3 Pro, D1x, Kodak DCS 760, Kodak DCS 720 Four Thirds or Micro Four Thirds - E-1, E-300, E-420, E-PL2, E-PL10, E-M5, GH4 Film - AE1, Canon F1, Nikon F2, EOS 1N, 630, FTb, a crazy number of point and shoots. I got a decent E-M5 for $125Cdn. and then I found another E-M5 which was sold as-is with a 4/3rds 50mm f2 macro lens and 4/3 to m4/3 adapter (Olympus MMF2). The camera, lens and adapter cost me $20Cdn, no not 200, but 20! The glass cover on the EVF was broken and the camera had been left for years so it no longer keeps the time and date when you change batteries but... everything else works and there were only 7200 shutter actuations and shows no error codes. So now I have a silver and a black model for $145 Canadian! I occasionally get lucky. Great video and Have a Happy New Year!

You’re a big part of the reason I got into m43. It’s my second favorite format, behind medium format which I own a phase one, Hasselblad and Pentax and I gotta say the difference in low light and stuff is not nearly as large as I thought it would be. Just ordered my Big White today, thanks for doing what you do ^^

I bought the lumix gm5 a few minutes ago, have been looking for a good deal for months even though I already have the gm1, since the evf is smth i truly miss but I've grown to love the size of the gm1. By accident I was on the mpb site the minute that a gm1 became available in the gorgeous red colour for a crazy good deal!! Can't wait to be obsessed with yet another tiny camera. Thank for making me feel better. I thought I had a G.A.S. problem but after seeing this, I feel I'm a healthy individual with an expensive hobby. My first serious camera was a Minolta 3xi (which I still have) a good 30ish years old. I then had other Minoltas through to Sony's up to today with the Sony A7 VI. My problem is lenses I have too many.

That's quite a collection. I'm actually surprised at the lack of GX1, GX85, and a6000s in your list. Those were prolific at the time and many people including myself still have them. Also, I have an LX10 that I bought new a few years ago for about 400 USD and it's one of my favorite cameras. The small size, excellent lens, and great image quality make it wonderful for those that like small cameras. Totally worth the price IMO. Same goes for the LF1, man I wish they would make an LF2.

I'm definitely a hoarder: film and digital, collectibles, repair projects (including hopeless cases). I once bought a camera described as "old camera" in the "everything else" category on ebay, just to see what it was (Voigtlaender Bessa 6x9, which does work!). I accidentally bought a Fujica G670 from France, just curious what it was going for. A wonderful camera, but I really need a 2AM cutoff for internet activities. And I bought a Mamiya 6 - the old folder - from Rajastan, just so I could say I did. It really does look like it spent decades in the desert. The ones I actually carry around are almost invariably Olympus: usually an E-M5 (lusting for a Mk II), although I have an inherited XA in the bag at present. I'm also partial to old rangefinders, and have a Fuji X-E1 that I bought specifically for my vintage Pen F lenses in my "alternate" bag. That combination is so much fun!

Part of the reason I moved to m43 was to consolidate to one camera, one, perhaps two, lenses and that's what I've done, all part of it's travel light and small ability. Both lenses are so good (in truth I could almost drop to one lens), that I've felt no urge to buy more and I spend my time trying to find something I might need but this time my choice was made too well. Although I have squidged sideways and bought an OM2n, a camera I used to own back in the day, so there's that, not entirely succesful avoiding GAS then.

Started with an OM1n in 1980, quickly followed by a K1000, a Konica C35, Olympus Trip and Lubitel Twin Lens. When digital came I blagged the kids cameras until 2016 when a pink Pentax Q10 came my way, quickly followed by a cream Q, black Q10 and silver Q7, along with nine Q mount lenses. I don't feel inclined to buy any more cameras. Unless I start making KZbin videos of my band. The real GAS however relates to guitars. The ones I can remember off the top of my head are eleven Telecasters, four Stratocasters, five Gordon Smiths, Gibson ES135, Junior and Explorer, Rickenbacker 6650S, Washburn HB15. Patrick Eggle New York, Burns Double-Six and Charvel Surfcaster electric 12 strings, Variax 600, Fender Jazz, Status Electro, Squier Musicmaster, Vox Clubman and Kala basses, two acoustic drum kits one electric, electric piano. Four solid state guitar amps, nine valve amps three speaker cabinets, two bass amps, one keyboard amp, six mixers, four power amps, three sets of powered and four sets of passive speakers, over twenty microphones, fifteen stands, and a few stage lights. I have not bought a guitar or amplifier since 2017 though, but a few effects pedals have appeared. Does that make you feel better?

feeling better about the size of my ridiculous collection. I sold my g9 when I got my g9ii and I'm sorry I did. I felt about that camera the way you feel about the gh5. I told myself I was being foolish having sentimental attachment to it and that I wouldn't miss it. I was so wrong. Really wish I kept it, but I sold it to someone who was just getting started and was super excited so maybe it's for the best. Great to see your rundown. Didn't realize you don't own a gh7. Something tells me it's only a matter of time on that one. Or maybe the gh7 isn't necessary for you know that you shoot s5ii for weddings. I feel very torn between adding a gh7 to my kit and sticking 100% mft, or adding a s5ii instead for some variety and low light versatility.

Come on Pentax... you know you want to bring back the Q series with a new body with a new sensor, modern image processing, maybe an EVF and some new lenses. I would love a dedicated Q model 00 macro lens because extension tubes don't work well on the Q series. I think a modernized Q camera with better low light, better video capabilities, bluetooth mic support, and some new lenses, etc would be absolutely amazing.

I think you may have missed your target slightly with the Pentax K-r. I favor the Pentax K-S1. It dates from 2014, has a 20MP sensor, seems to be the smallest DSLR that Pentax have produced-and I believe it might be the smallest DSLR of any brand to include a real penta-prism viewfinder, not the cheaper penta-mirror. And yes, it was also produced in a huge range of custom colors. I have one example in what they called the "Blue Cream Soda" color scheme and another in common, dignified, boring black.

Hi Emily. I enjoy all your videos. Keep up the good work. This video made me think, so I did a bit of a stock take. I have counted 35 cameras in my list. If I remove the drones I am still at 31!!! I got my first camera in 1974, so at least I have been in the game for a while, and this doesn't include cameras that need repair. (which would take the list back to 35!) I regularly use 10 of them, so I suppose the rest are because I like them. I still have my first camera, but film for it can no longer be purchased. I could do a list but would take up too much space. Keep up the good work. Look kindly on my entry into the next photo competition, and I hope my G.A.S. has made you feel a bit better! I started shooting 1972 on Film with a Porst FX4, much later a Nicon F-401, Canon Ixus (unusable, no film) before I switched to digital, starting with Canon Ixus (broken), Ixus 300, Ixus 750. Then Olympus entered my life, E-M10 II (sold), E-M1 II (sold), E-M5 III and Pen E-P7. A short intermezzo with Ricoh GRIIIx (broken after 2 days). Unfortunately one of your videos gave me the idea to buy some Pentax 110 lenses and there was a film camera coming with the lenses. So the Pentax 110 Auto was loaded and used, soon after my old 35mm cameras were used as well. Along came a 1979 Olympus OM-2n and a 1955 Exa and the latest (and greatest) a 1950 Agfa Isolette II medium format folder. EDC is my E-M5 (not the Pen since it's lacking an EVF)

Unfortunately, my GAS is much worse, compounded by not getting near the use out of mine that you do from yours. I fell into the rabbit hole of vintage lens acquisition, and most of those come attached to a probably-doesn't-work camera, but that doesn't account for all of my problem! Big Pentax fan, as my first camera (which I still have) was the ME Super, but sadly it does not work. I have quite a few Pentax offerings, film and digital, including the Auto 110 Super, but I still want the Q!

And that is after giving away 10 cameras to family and friends lol. Mostly M43 then APSc and then full frame by the numbers. Love your videos.

Nicely Done. I counted the number of film and digital cameras in my apartment and the count is currently at 94. I would love to get into film photography at some point. I purchased a Nikon S2 last year which I would like to test out. Happy New Year.

That ranking of the Canon F-1 is brutal, it's an amazing camera. Shame yours is broken though. Is it the part that pulls the film over (take up spool under the advance lever) or the rewind knob/arm? The latter is much easier to replace/fix...

With your love of small powerhouses I’m surprised you don’t have any of the Olympus PEN 35mm half frame cameras! They’re tiny jewels of engineering marvels. I have an EES-2 …it fits in the palm of my hand and makes for a great unobtrusive travel camera to bring just for the fun of it. Easier on the wallet with half frame too. Sorry if I stoked your GAS more 😬

Z cam E1 is technically the smallest m4/3 camera, not the Olympus Air. It was even smaller than the GM1(which I had) from the comparisons I've seen. Might be worth looking into.

I am almost as bad.... I got back into photography 2 years ago after a ~10 year hiatus. 😄 I mainly used to photograph bands for album covers and live shows. I also did weddings. I took a long break because i started my career in IT, met a girl, got married, had 4 kids a house and a summer home. 😅 So after this hiatus i wanted to try all of the gear that i had missed.. So i bought 4 different second hand cameras. Some full frame, a M43 and a APS-C. Then i rotated out cameras i liked less. I followed videos online and bought other cameras. This went on for ~18 months before i found my new "home". During these 2 years i have gone through the following cameras : D700 (two of them), D600, 7D Mark II, X100S, X70, X-T1, X-T2, X-T20, X-E2, E-M10 mark II (3 of them), E-M10 Mark III, E-M10 Mark IV, E-M1X, E-PL7, PEN-F (2 of them), E-PL8, E-P5, E-PL1, GX880, GX85, GM1, OM-5, G9 and G9 Mark II... 😅 I have followed your channel for most of the way. I have now settled on a couple of cameras. I LOVED the D700s and had them from the start but even those have now been sold. I landed on the G9 Mark II as my A camera and an original G9 as my B camera. I have a GM1 as an EDC camera and i kept the E-M10 Mark IV for now but i might sell that to. Yes, i had some massive G.A.S for two years but now i feel that i have "caught up" with what i missed during my hiatus. 🙃

Don't feel guilty, though I am not as bad as you I would like to be a lot worse :P ... I just love different cameras for different shooting styles and user experiences. My main workhorse is the Oly OM-1 but I am thinking of adding the Pany G9 II as well because the OM-1 is just utterly useless for photographing dogs running around. I recently added Pany G1 and G2 (from Japan) in blue because they were my first mirrorless cameras (and 2nd/3rd cameras I ever owned) and I just adore the Panasonic 12 MP (RAW) files they just look so different to me. I also have a Pany G2 IR converted I got for 30 £ and a boring black Pany G1 that I got for 9 £ and I thought I could fix it but I can not so it's pure decoration now. I recently bought a Pentax K-7 DSLR because it was the camera I dreamed of having when I started photography 15 years ago but could never afford but now I got it for 50 £ from Japan and its just so much fun to shoot. I didn't experienced the DSLRs beyond the Pentax K200D I had back in 2008 for one year so it's really interesting to use it. The last camera that I have is the Pentax Q original, I got it because of the small size and fun factor and I want to use the 5.5x crop factor to photograph surface details of the moon and shoot mainly Black & White street images during the day. I would prefer a Pany GM1 (blue like yours) for the street photography but 2x crop factor is not the same as 5.5x for the moon shots. The maximum reach I can get right now is 1120mm but with the Q I could get 2750mm with a 500mm lens like the TTArtisan 500mm f 5.6 for 250 £ new. The one camera that I do miss badly is my favourite camera that I have ever owned, the Pany GX7 in silver. I miss the perfect size and grip with excellent ergonomics and just perfect for street photography. I really need to get one at some point. I do love the Pany GX8 for the weather sealing and a better fit for my Oly 17mm f 1.2 PRO and Oly 45mm f 1.2 PRO BUT that thing is as big as my OM-1 without the EVF hump.

I think that collecting cameras (and camera gear) is a legitimate hobby separate to 'taking pgotographs'. I tend to hoard, so I still own couple of old M42 bodies and lenses, some of which found an unexpected new lease of life when I got back into ILC cameras about 6 years ago. I try to be a bit disciplined about buying new gear only when what I have already is limiting me in some way. I guess some professionals take an unsentimental approach to their kit ("I've upgraded my work tools to Sony FF, so my old G9 set up is no longer needed and is going on MPB to fund my next trip") and other keep hold and find some other way to generate income from it, as you have. Apart from financial issues, I think the only issue with GAS is is if it arises from Gear Incompetence Syndrome (I'm not happy with my results, it must be because my camera isn't good enough, therefore I need to spend another £2.5k on the latest new camera) or progresses to Gear Snobbery Syndrome (I've just spent £2.5k upgrading to my new camera because I wasn't happy with my results with a camera like yours, therefore your results with that camera can't be any good).

I kept all the cameras I used over the years: Analog: Minox GT, Nikon F90, Contax T2, Yashica T4. Digital: Nikon Coolpix 990, Nikon D70, Casio EX-F1, Lumix GF1, GH3, GX80, GH5, GH6, G9-II. Action: Sony X3000, Insta360 X2 and X4 The Yashica T4 was a rescue from the garbage. The others got at least 2 years of heavy usage, the F90 got more than 10 years as main camera.

Thanks for a good chuckle today! If you're happy with your collection, that is truly all that counts. Alas, I've yet to find any over-the-counter products for this but I've suffered from the affliction before (so many have and I come by it naturally from my dad, most likely lol). I still like my large gear (ask me in a few years if I feel the same after packing it all in for landscapes/wildlife at my age lol). Do I curse Oly menus? I'll never tell (and no asking wildlife in my region lol)... Rarely, to be honest, but there are those moments... I always enjoy your vids, though. Thanks for sharing and happy New Year, as well!

Me buying another new camera is a family joke now. I’m seeking total perfection of course which is futile! But I don’t have a big collection as I sell the old ones to fund the new. I wish I hadn’t because I could spend a lot of time just looking at them. Would save me having to do that photography stuff

Emily keep collecting it's not like cameras take up a lot of space like bicycles or cars... If you can find a reason to shoot with it or you feel some sentimental or historical value it's all good. I am up to about 20 cameras and I'm not a professional. At the core I use my OM1 the most usually for wildlife and macro photography. My everyday carry is an TG-7. I have an tz50 so I can do wildlife photography will out for a run. And I have a samsung NX mini and an olympus PEN for social/general photography. The rest my collection is some legacy 4/3 gear or I had to because the camera was cheap, cool, innovative or weird... and a couple more tough cameras. And I will probably pick up some more. There are many worse habits that some photography GAS.
