Basic Principles of Meccano

Meccano is a building system that uses real metal nuts and bolts to create all sorts of cool things you can think up! Parts use standardized hole spacing, so parts can be reused in lots of different ways. The possibilities are endless!
This video will show you features of the tools used to put Meccano together, how to read Meccano instruction booklets, and some tips and tricks when building with Meccano.

Very cute kits, I like the idea of youngsters putting stuff together and learning about the world around them. I do have to say that I'm turning 54 this year and that I will always favour the original Meccano sets above these more modern ones. They provide you with endless hours of fun as you build things up from the simplest components.

I recently started searching for cool creation kits to learn how to make something cool stuff, engineering etc... (I start a bit late, I'm 19 but hey better late than never xD) My parents offered me a Meccano kit for Christmas and here I am, I have to say this video is excellent ! It's clear, entertaining and well made, one of the rare explanation video with a kid that I know that is actually really enjoyable :D

You might also take a liking in the older, "classic" Meccano sets. I see people still advertise sets and loose parts on sites like eBay. It can become a bit expensive, depending on what you are buying, at least you have the satisfaction of being able to use your parts over and over again !

I enjoyed these meccano sets inmensely. I don't know about you, but i used to use the metal parts as structure, then cover them with cardboard and make amazing stuff for my other toys.

Meccano needs a ratchet hex tool and sealed bags for packing up, also most builds are under lights so don't make the booklet to shiney! I enjoy meccano 👍

Meccano is a real thing, they've been up and running since 1901, even the robot is real, however, you are right on one thing, it will not say "Hello internet" on its own.

Oh, finally, I've found a comment of yours, I had a tiny problem with the pose able fingers of meccanoid and some micronoids as, after a bit of play, they go lose and flop around like a fresh slice of white bread. the C shape that connects the fingers to the rods on the palm wear out, as the plastic is extremely soft. This usually occurs when attaching or removing fingers. Maybe you can fix this on future builds?
