I wish university was just these online videos, and then in person help sessions. Teachers would get to devote more time to helping students and research, lectures would become irrelevant (so university would probably be cheaper as teachers don't have to spend the time delivering the same ineffective lecture over and over again) and with the in person help sessions, teachers could help students who aren't getting it from the tutorial. I feel this would be so much more effective

Right, I wonder why universities don't refer to videos. It's easy to find perfect explanation than 700pages of refering books. Instead teachers can help with difficult exercises, preparing students to like the subject, as this is the reason why students still do cheating...

Great video, man. However, I think your brushed over independence with some circular logic, imo. You said it makes sense to multiply them together because theyre independent since if theyre independent then you multiply their individual probabilities. You hadnt established what's intuitive about multiplying their probabilities together

At 11:28 he said that the two variables are not independent. I thought that in order to have a joint distribution of two random variables X, and Y, they both have to be independent? You cant not have a joint distribution with two dependent random variables?

I have a question on Joint and conditional probability. a certificate requires passing 3 exams. you can't apply to the 2nd exam until you pass the 1st exam and you can't apply to the 3rd exam until you pass the 2nd exam. let's name the exams: 1st exam (A), 2nd exam (B), and 3rd exam (C). let's say the passing rates for each are as follows: A = 49% B = 40% C = 37% how we can calculate the Joint and conditional probability?

Why can't you multiply the marginal frequencies to get the joint probability. For example, using 0.4 Game of Thrones and multiplying it with 0.46 Male to get the Joint probability of 0.16 in the table? Thanks. I just cant seem to wrap my head around why this cannot be done logically.

If you look through a theoretical book for joint probabilities, you'll see everything, from this video, in terms of x_i, y_i, p_ij so on... you might get the math behind it... so you could say you know about joint probabilities...but you wont be able to say you understood them... not until someone just makes the effort to substitute the variables with...well... tv shows and gender will do!. Awesome video
