Basic Reflow Soldering with a Hot Plate

I did hotplate reflow for couple years , used an inexpensive controller from sparkfun so that I could use the reflow profiles. Worked ok but really wanted to reflow double sided pcbs . So converted a toaster oven to a reflow oven that utilizes a pid controller . Superb results .

Interesting method, I think your solder paste volume was a bit excessive and should be a little more accurate to be honest but it looks like it works well for a few chips but I would personally use a mask for a reasonable number of devices on it as having to go around and clean up each device wouldn't be that practical in my opinion.

This basically shows that you can do pretty much everything wrong and still get good results by cleaning up in the end. SMD is a lot more forgiving than people think. The flux and surface tension of the solder does most of the work.
