I follow you guys for quite a while already. I do not like your shenanigans very much, may be because I am at quite advanced age, but ! I would say that this is so far the best explanation of alemana with all those valuable and indispensable: directions, timing, hip movements, feet placement etc. Thank you very much for your input to dance community, big "like".

@yuliapolyakova75686 жыл бұрын
@@DanceInsanity I can swivel pretty well when I do them separately, just to practice. So I thought I will do it in alemana no problem. But it turned out to be challenging! I need to practice more:/
@DanceInsanity6 жыл бұрын
Yulia - Yes. Practice practice. It's amazing how well the body likes and responds to consistent practice. I also find it helpful to focus on pulling my center up right as I step onto the left foot right into the swivel. That combined with using the hip rotation. Perfect recipe for a good swivel action. :)

Thanks so much, was broken down so well. Some time can you please show how the leader makes the follower close her feet while in fan position. I sort of got a clue watching Tytus arm action when he was demonstrating knowing your partners footwork with out moving. It goes to show you that if you dance only using your feet you can't go any where. I can see through your legs hips and upper body actions movement is so much easier and pleasing to the eye.
@tytusbergstrom6 жыл бұрын
Hi Kieth! that is a great suggestion! I remember when I first figured it out, I'll talk to the boss and see if we can make that happen in a video for ya. thanks! Tytus

Isn’t that a spot turn? I thought alemana involved an extras step with even a brushing action in the process.
@DanceInsanity2 жыл бұрын
The steps might seem similar, but an Alemana is different than a spot turn because of its direction+ alignment with your partner. Leg brushing action is optional - that can be done within a spot turn as well as Alemana. :)

I don't think the "knowing the followers footwork" is that useful. Better to know what to expect for the followers weight position and how to sense it.
