I can't put one foot in front of another let alone move hips but as I'm waiting for a kidney transplant I want to make the most of my new health and this looks like a great option. Thank you so much I love you both you have really motivated me. I will keep trying to use your video's.

@@DanceInsanity I started with dancing in 2012 for the first time. I was one of the beginner clompers, step step clomp, here at a local social dance studio. From there I got involved in some performances and then went to 1 competition for ballroom/latin and loved it. I used to compete nationally in track & field when I was young, so training and competition is in my blood, so to speak. Then life happened since 2012 and practice went downhill for a while and working to get back into it, but finding a partner is really hard. Still, I am working at it and these instructional video's of yours provide the sorely needed teaching I need to progress. So essentially, it has been 6 yrs, but those years have been broken up :(.

@@DanceInsanity Sorry, I have 2 accounts at KZbin, I try to use this one "Dancer2016" to be specific to music and dancing, but sometimes I forget I am signed in to my other one "TheSeeker2070. Anyway, you asked what dances I have been doing? - I am trying to work on International Standard and Latin for competition. Love the Latin and love the way Latin can be used to do all sorts of things for performances, where Standard seems more restricted to the same routines for performances, but I am not there yet (a long ways to go) so I will decide then which to primarily focus on . On the social side, I love West Coast Swing, Salsa, Country Dancing (2step, Triple 2step, NightClub, etc) and some American style dances. I have competed in Country Western Dance competition, loved it as I also loved competing in International Dance too.
@DanceInsanity5 жыл бұрын
@Dancer2019 haha. ok. you may have to remind us again. ;) It's good to cross-train in both Latin and Standard. One can apply to the other for certain things. We love WCS and Salsa too! Are you doing all 5 Latin dances for competition?

Hi LiWen and Tytus, I know you both practice yoga and I would like to know if you can recommend any yoga hip stretches that could be particularly beneficial for latin hip flexibility. When I do these exercises I can feel my hip tendons and everything else resisting!
@DanceInsanity6 жыл бұрын
Hey Peter! Yes.. was actually thinking of doing a hip stretching video for latin dancers, so will add that to our video idea list! In the meantime, try these hip stretches out: www.danceinsanity.com/tutorial/hip-stretches-5-minutes/

hi Peter! yes, the above tutorial is great. I do the butterfly and cradle when ever possible, along with the rest. remember to pick an amount you can do daily so you gradually improve the flexibility. it takes time... best! Tytus

Thanks! I was going to ask about something similar, because I get a lot of hip-snapping when I do the movements in the video. I guessing increased flexibility and looser hip muscles should reduce that happening?

yeah, that should help. also remember that the hip bone is connected to the back (sing along, lol!) joking aside, if you engage your core, that should help too...

Hey @JayBee Covers! It's not the size that counts, but how you use it. 😉🤪 Use more squeeze and isolation of the ribcage and also oppositional movements in the knees to create bigger hip actions. Also... fringey/ petaled skirts can help accentuate the hip movements too. 👍🏼

I do have a question... I lift weights and my core is stiff, short and weak, what type of stretches can I do to get movement, when my brain to body just doesn't quite respond? also if every woman moved and looked as cute as LiWen, would we be in heaven? I know we would.. thx guys you are cool

Hey @Joel must be heaven on Earth? 👼🏻😉 no wonder we're having so much fun! For core strengthening, check out these exercises - www.danceinsanity.com/tutorial/5-minute-exercises-6-pack-abs/ For stretching the spine and creating more mobility in the spine/ center, try these out - www.danceinsanity.com/tutorial/sexy-office-isolations-exercises/ 🙂👍🏼 Do these stretches after you lift. let us know how it goes.
