Thank you for this video! I'm currently following a minor in business in China and as a Dutch student, it was kind of hard to understand some things with the material I got from school. Your video cleared it up which will help with the paper I have to write about Confucianism.

I notice some parallels between Confucianism and Stoicism; similar ideas and concepts to live by (such as the importance of magnanimity and propriety) to make our lives and society better, but not exactly pointing to an "ultimate" as you described.

It's like he's bootstrapping a universal culture. Also familial piety makes a lot of sense in the context of ancestor worship.

5:22 It is said that there are no such thing as understandings. There are simply interpretations. My.. interpretation of this proverb is that as long as your parents or elders for that live, the knowledge and responsibilities they have shared will never lead their brood astray, lost, or wounded.

I like Confucius (not confucianism), because he can be used with catholicism. God is three relations: From Vater to Son and through both to the Holy Ghost and back to the origin. God has created the world similar to him. The person is based on relationship (Me-You-Him). Aristoteles teaches that with more than 3 principles there is redundancy. The five relationships of Confucius can be reduced to the 3 that are image of God. Family and society are based on those relationships.

In my point of view, your translation should be replaced like mine ! There are three things constantly on the lips of a gentle person none of which i have succeeded in the following : 01. A person of wisdom never confuses or captivates ; 02. A person of benevolence never worries or agonize ; 03. A person of courage never scares or surrenders .

"Do not do to others ........" is not at all the Confucius Idea of compassion. The Biblical statement is from the standpoint of fearing the "other". Therefore, don't harm others.
