Learn to play basic rhythmic subdivisions using only your thumb. These exercises are great for beginners, but also a great foundational skill for all levels! Strive for supremely precise timing. Practice playing loudly on one pass through, and quietly on another to work on dynamic control. Some subdivisions will be too fast for you at certain tempos.
