@nehagopinathpillai
@nehagopinathpillai 4 жыл бұрын
You are most welcome! I use the nylon cord as per the bead hole size I make for my terracotta beads. I use three sizes 3-4mm, 1.5mm and 1.18m. If the cord is around 3mm thickness then the wooden bead hole could be around 3-4mm.. Please note that I am referring to the hole size and not the bead size itself. You can try a local fancy store. It's easily available and a lot of cheaper than what's been sold online.

@nehagopinathpillai
@nehagopinathpillai 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Eye pin/head pins are used for assembling(post firing). Pre-firing (before firing) while making the piece, while the clay is still wet, nichrome wire is used. A combination of nickel and chromium, it's a high temp wire which doesn't melt in the kiln while firing.

@nehagopinathpillai
@nehagopinathpillai 5 жыл бұрын
@@vaniviswa6068 high temp wire is what everyone uses for ceramics /pottery. And yes, it seems to do a decent job. A well known brand for kilns is Skutt. Skutt kilns go 600 $ and upwards. If you are a beginner I wouldn't suggest it. I don't own a kiln myself, and prefer outsourcing that service from the studio.

Mentioned in the description box. Btw, I never use to use varnish earlier. Varnish was a more recent addition for me.

For gold colour, you re using antique gold. We know that. But for other colours which one should we use? Normal acrylic colours or metallic colours. Which one is good for making jewels? Is there any chances to peel off colours from beads?

You could refer some of my painting videos. Have a lot them on my channel. With regard to paints, back in India, I would use Fevicryl Hobby ideas and here in the US I use several brands such as master's touch, folk art, anita's , liquitex

Nice and informative video... thanks Neha. Would like to know if the terracotta clay jewellery be baked in convection oven?
@nehagopinathpillai
@nehagopinathpillai 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Not at all. Typically low fire earthen ware clay has to be fired between 900 - 1100 degrees C for a duration of 8 hours and cooling down period of anther 8 hours or so. That wouldn't be possible in a convection oven. If you have access to a ceramic or pottery studio close by, you can check if they provide firing services.

@@aditishrivastava2243 sure you may. Wood tends to warp with time, so you might just have to replace it when that happens. It's common and most of us just replace the board. So I suggest you don't spend too much on that. Also, please don't use anything with varnish/laminate or polish on.

It's used as the hooks for pendants and earrings. They are high temp wire stay won't melt in the kiln on firing.

Hi! Please don't get confused between a nichrome wire and an eye pin. Two completely different things. I don't think you get nichrome wires in gold color. :) nichrome wires are high temp wires that won't melt in the kiln while your piece is being fired. (80% nickel 20% chromium) Where as an eye pin would melt very soon inside the kiln. Also DO NOT confuse between a nichrome wire and a memory wire or a gear wire. Very very different things.

@@nivetharajendran8643 Nichrome wire is used for stick beads, ghungroo beads, hooks for earrings and pendants. An eye pin or head pins are used only while assembling the jewelry. Nichrome wire Guage 24 for pendants, gauge 26 for earrings and gauge 28 for ghungroo beads and stick beads. AND YES, EYE PINS WILL MELT IN THE KILN WHILE FIRING.
