Hi! Thanks for sharing the video! I have a little question. Have you tried to make icing simulation of a body with axial symmetry using structured mesh? Mesh takes only 5-10 degrees (for example) of body, and there are 2 symmetry planes on sides. I dont know what type of symmetry plane I should use.

Thanks for sharing this Video.... I have a question. What's the difference between Fensap single shot (ICE3D) and multishot (sequences). What be different in the solutions ?

Normally you would have to transfer the solution files of FENSAP and DROP3D to ICE3D manually, which would become very tedious if you wish to run multiple simulations for varying icing time, LWC, MVD and other such parameters. So multishot allows you to automate the process of running FENSAP, DROP3D and ICE3D for multiple simulations without the hassle of manually feeding the input files to ICEM3D. Though I don't suppose there will be any difference in the solution.

@@neelaydoshi9808 Thanks for the reply, however to do the multishot simulations. you would have to do the ICE3D and DROP3D ? so im a little confused on it, because multishot takes up a lot of CPU performance + very time consumming. Also im currently doing calculations for meteorological study. And do you know how to calculate MVD and Icing time ? I've manged to calculate the LWC, however not MVD and icing time. Is there any source that you could direct me ? Thanks Alin.

@@sonna002 yes multishot will run FENSAP, DROP3D and ICE3D, but it's FENSAP that's very computationally expensive. I think the 'icing time' should be simply equally to the duration for which your aircraft is encountering the icing conditions, meaning it depends on the speed of your aircraft and the size of the domain/domains that have a particular LWC and MVD value (through which your aircraft is flying) I am new to FENSAP-ICE myself so I am not sure about this, but I think you will have to break down the icing time into smaller intervals. For instance if your total icing time is 30min then maybe you should run 6 simulations of 5min icing time each so as to allow OPTIGRID (integrated in ICEM3D) to re-mesh the geometry and modify the airflow according to the ice formed. I don't know how to calculate MVD though.

@@infinitehexagons6215 thank you for your answer and the tutorial video. I have another question. The direction of the flow and the drops to impact is in the positive direction of the x-axis, but according to the simulation results, the ice formed on the back of the cube. In my opinion, the ice should form on the face of cube where the droplets hit? Why is ice formation on the back side of the cube ? I hope you can help me out with this question, thank you so much.

@@user-nx7by2yk6f This is odd. I did not notice it then. Indeed ice should have formed on the face facing fluid flow.

@@infinitehexagons6215 Thank you for the reply. So could you please tell me how to fix that problem? Because I was simulating the freeze on the plane's wings and I did the same thing your video, but the ice didn't formed on the face facing fluid flow. I dont know how to fix this problem I would be very grateful if you could show me how to solve this problem

@@user-nx7by2yk6f I can't figure out why this might be happening. Can you reverse the flow direction and see if it helps? Try checking the documentation as well: download.hangtuah.ac.id/ansys/ansys-2020/Docs/Ansys.Products.PDF.Docs.2020R1/v201/ANSYS_FENSAP-ICE_User_Manual.pdf
