This is just another shining example of how Hornby have improved recently. I started on recent Hornby with the Hush Hush, which mine was largely fine but suffered from some loose details. Then the 9F, which is incredible. Then the Dublo Scotsman, which is overpriced but exquisite, then the P2, which I will sing the praises of that until the day I die. I like the Turbomotive, but my gripe with the lamps isn't the same as yours. My issue is that they work directionally like a diesel, which isn't how steam era lamps functioned at all. I also think the Turbomotive should have had a stronger motor in it, because it basically can't do slow speeds. Incidentally the same complaint I had about the Accurascale Manors. Also, understatement of the year: the Duke does need a new tooling, like 3-4 years ago lol

I avoided the Hush Hush like the plague given all the horror stories. However I do overall agree standards have improved dramatically. The issue with the Hush Hush I believe is it was rushed out without care for quality control. That aside I purchased 3 of the new 9F's and the Turbomotive all of which are astounding and all benefit like the P2 from the new far superior packaging. The Hush Hush being as fragile as it is was thrown in to a standard box. It seems standards have improved tenfold since Simon Kohler departed Hornby. The official version was he retired however I have my doubts.

Update: finished second in the model shot. Got £84 to spend with hornby points (debating either the beaver tail or toward an engine). The free model is being sent soon, been waiting for about a week to receive it. Exams finished so money for midland Pullman will be coming soon. Seeing Tony soon and will take some rakes with. Good to see your posts still going. Stay well.

Congrats! Should do a video on the Midland Pullman when you get it (you need to upload something lol). Save that money for something in the future, don't spend it all in one go. Hope all is well!

It is unfortunate that we are celebrating there are no glue marks as it should be the norm and not the exception.

The major issue I have with this and many Brittish tender engines is the pretty enormous gap between the footplate/cab and the tender. This was fixed on my Roco German steamers I bought in the early 1980s on B17, 01 and 44.s. Before anyone start to defend that hese are to be able on some redicilous tight radiouses, so are these ROco models that quite happily are able to handle them. On bothe versions of 2MT.s this means the re is this stupid gap on the roof that is supposed cover the entire roof as I guess 99 per cent of us will see them on birds level. I would loved to see more on how it runs, how it will be handling slow speeds as they were branch line engines, and as such they had to handle both way service as switching.

Why there aren't even lamps on the loco? Who tooks the lamps off the loco on daylight? How do you see them at night? Where do you took lamps from if you want them on it? That's so crazy. You don't take the lamps out of you car at daylight for sure. Why here? I love my locos with operating light all day long. Especially when i turn off the lights in the room to see my layout 'at night'.
