I've fished off the old mangere bridge for years when growing up I remember when an old Pacific island lady caught a huge shark on a tow rope

well there are some waterfront areas where you could have a flick. as for the bridge, i think its still in construction

Bridge is finally open now, yet to test the water out... I mean new bridge. Don't really know what to expect anymore, kinda feels like uncharted territory. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Although a sad event, I think this could be an opportunity for the local fish to repopulate as three years of no fishing can do a lot to help populations of fish like e.g. Spotties (I nobody likes them, just example). I remember they were rebuilding Devonport wharf a few years back, and after the wharf reopened the fish were absolutely loaded.

yes i agree. i remember wen i came to devonport for the very 1st time a few weeks after it opened i was able to land a 2kg trev. so u r right, maybe wen it reopens, the fishing will be better

Its sad that its being closed but surely its very unsafe with concrete falling off from the sides. It wont be the same having to walk or bike through the underpass.

Mate it was going to close many year's ago when I was a kid at least 35 years ago. Everyone should be happy it is going before someone is killed

yea many people werent happy wen the fence were installed and most of them were fishing within the barrier till they hired security. i hope for the best for the reconstruction and hope wen it opens, the water will be loaded with fish lol
