Just got a TM-281a and I love this radio. It's built like a tank and very easy to program from the front panel or from the mic. W Rusty Lane K9POW in eastern Tennessee

I was just given this Kenwood model - and was looking for basic programming info. The info I needed was at the tail end of the video. Helpful - thanks for taking the time to post this - and thanks for being an Trucker keeping America alive !

I put out a Facebook post to our drivers recently asking if anyone used ham radio with no response. I am seeing this because I just ordered a Kenwood TM281 for my Chevy Tahoe. I am glad to see professional drivers are picking up the hobby.

I often hear that the receiver on this TM-281A is really good. Do you think its receiver is substantially better than a standard Yaesu monobander? Or anyone any thoughts on this?

generally repeater freq. (co-channel ie same freq) will be separated by about 100 miles or so. Indiana has 100 mile, I believe Texas uses 125 mile spacing. Also you need to get a dual band rig. 144/440

+W2IBC-TV nah... no one talks on 440 machines around here. But my 857 does have that. I will be installing that in my truck soon.
