"They're reversed on the other end and it's the other guy who's going to have to unscrew the face plate." You could have explained why you said that, but I love how you did it! Go fix it! It's your problem! Why should I explain why it doesn't really matter which side is wrong? :-)

Thanks, we’re glad you appreciated Jim’s little joke in there. Sometimes, the boss prefers you to fix the problem rather than argue who’s at fault! As you know, electrically it doesn’t matter which end gets swapped. If the partner at the far end isn’t experienced enough to realize that maybe it wasn’t their fault, then you’ll spend even more time explaining “A” versus “B” wiring to them.

didn't think A wiring was a standard anymore
@UTP_TERMINATOR
@UTP_TERMINATOR 5 жыл бұрын
@@finitevoid4520 If you believe (like many people do) that T568A was replaced by T568B, you're wrong. They're both accepted as standards. Always have been & probably always will be. I believe the two wiring schemes are the result of an unfortunate compromise, and the A scheme makes more sense to me. Even the nomenclature is unfortunate in my opinion as I have found many people confuse the T568A & T568B with TIA 568A and TIA 568 B specifications. Or are you just a troll?

Dewald Burger not all the problem is confusing between a To b , I’m working on a project of 3000 network points, and now I test everything and it make it very frustrating that I need to guess which side i need to open in case off a problem. I hope the get a real answer from fluke
@UTP_TERMINATOR
@UTP_TERMINATOR 4 жыл бұрын
@@amihi19 But why would it matter which side you need to open to fix a problem that's basically an A wiring scheme one side and B wiring scheme on the other side? Unless the client is really finicky on a particular wiring scheme it really doesn't matter whether it's all A or all B. As long as it's consistent on both ends.. Or am I misunderstanding your problem

@hoefie1977
@hoefie1977 2 жыл бұрын
the cableIQ, and the newer LinkIQ will provide you the info on which side there is a problem if you have open, split or shorts . When pairs are crossed, indeed you need to uncross them, but technically it doesn't matter on which side. However, if you want to be certain to have that both ends are A or B, then you need guess and you will have 50% to open the correct connector.

I recently bought a cableIQ, but I was a little disappointed that it lacks an intermittent test for testing cables with a bad connection that happens only very briefly when moving it.

@@hoefie1977 I did, but it doesn't notice short or open circuits that only last for a few ms. I purchased a Behringer CT200 cable tester with an intermittend test for all kind of audio connectors including RJ45.

HELP!!. I know you’re reviewing the micro scanner and not the micromapper but....Is the fluke micromapper POE safe? In other words if I plug a ethernet cable with POV on it into the micromapper or it’s supplied remote will it damaged them.
@FlukeNetworksVideo

Do not connect MICROMAPPER to a live circuit as it may damage the unit. It is designed for testing cables with no network signal present on the line.

I work with RG-58 coax cable with BNC connectors on each end. Would the microscanner2 be good for simple continuity testing and locating shorts on damaged cables?

Hi Tim - thanks for your question. It would work, but you’d need a BNC-to-F-Type adapter. Happy testing!

You can use a cheap cable tester with toner and use alligator clips to hook one line to the core of the coax and the other to the shell of the coax. Generate a tone and use your tone scanner on the other end. That's how I did mine. It works. Don't need to spend $2 grand Fluke scanner. It's useful but completely over priced.
