Well done. This type of content is vital to sustaining our ability to hunt in the future. There are less and less young people taking up hunting. In Oregon, there are groups trying to get a ban on hunting and fishing placed on the ballot for citizens to vote on. I am 62, with over 50 years of fishing and hunting memories, with more to come. I appreciate you sir, for your willingness and ability to share your knowledge with us all. Keep it up.

Brother I’m making a channel dedicated to hunting. I’m new but nonetheless fascinated with the topic. I live in the South so black bears weighing up to 880lbs max but normally 4-500 lbs are what I’m aiming for. If it’s not 400 I won’t even waste my only bear tag on it

I am 38 and doing my first hunting season now. I am in WA (western). I have always been around hunting being from Arkansas and Louisiana but never had time (as an adult) or money (as a youth). 1 thing I can't find a video about is simply using Public Land. How to access it. Types of public land and how to access each. When to move into the hunting areas, and how to move into them in difficult terrain in those morning hours. This stuff may be too much, but a video on this would help me a ton for sure. I have been inspired and have learned a ton from your channel. Thanks for the content!

Wow down in Texas I hunt white tail with .223 all the time. I've killed like 50 deer in the last decade without any issue. My dad has used 30.06 for the last 60 years and at least once a year has to go track his deer down after hitting it. I have never had to walk more than 20 feet or so from where it was standing when I shot it.

Washington’s tag point system is totally biased against out of state hunters. Who is going to spend $900+ every year only to not get drawn for a special permit and just get another point. The Teanaway unit point average is 22 and gets bumped higher every year for elk.

In Wisconsin you have to take a hunters education course if you were born after 1973. I was born in 1972 so I got lucky. But..... When I started deer hunting you had to have a hunters education course If you wanted to hunt before you were in high school so I took it with my dad and when I graduated I got an automatic doe and buck tag of which I could shoot one of the two. So basically the first year you could shoot either or to hopefully get a deer no matter what. I also see that a 3 point deer is what we call a 4 pointer here.

What about the multi season permits? Can you hunt any weapon any season?
@SamongOutdoors
@SamongOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
If you are successful with a multi-season permit, you must purchase the multi-season tag for deer and/or elk depending on which tag you got drawn for. The multi-season deer tag is $140 and the multi-season elk tag is $182. You cannot use your general deer or elk tag if you drew multi-season hunts. Once you do this then yes, you are allowed to hunt all three general season hunts which include archery, muzzleloader, and rifle seasons. Keep in mind, weapon restrictions are still in place. For example, you can't use a rifle during archery season. You must use the appropriate weaponry for that particular season.

Nothing wrong with a 30-30. The calibers he mentioned all excell over 30-30 past 150 yards, they pack more down range energy, and are overall better choices for deer, elk, black bear and cougar. The 30-30 is still a great round.
