Slimestone is the cathegory / redstonestyle It doesn't use any redstone dust, instead it focuses on moveable redstone components, such as pistons and observers. slimestone is more usefull at moving entities and blocks on a bigger scale than normal redstone.

Thanks for the comprehensive axplanation! So sad that piston timings and behaviour are different on MCPE.. I've got several one way flying machines working there and even a semi 2 way flying machine is possible but there's as far as I know no way to make an auto returning 2 way flying machine without a return station on PE. (I mean returning based on reaching the push limit) Question, are you currently working or planning to work on a simpler version of CubeHamster's auto miner? That would be awesome!

Nice video! Are there any concerns over multiple flying machines that need to be launched simultaneously to work properly together? Can a lag spike throw them out of sync? Is there any upper limit on the number of piston actions per tick that might be reached to throw one off? What happens near loaded chunk boundaries?
@oreolamp5676
@oreolamp5676 7 жыл бұрын
TrypticOwen There is a limit of piston actions or moving blocks. Its the tiletick limit. Its currently 65 536 i think
@TrypticOwen
@TrypticOwen 7 жыл бұрын
Sounds like that is unlikely to be the limiting factor, then! :-) Thanks
@Eta7400
@Eta7400 7 жыл бұрын
Pistons don't use tile ticks. They use block events for scheduling and block 36 (tile entity) for piston movement. Tile tick is for repeater, comparator, torch, observer, liquids, tripwire, button, pressureplate, lamp, cmd block etc.. Unlike tile ticks, there isn't a hard limit to the amount of piston action per tick. I think in one of the 1.11 snapshots, the game crashed with lots of piston actions in a tick, but that should've been fixed. Then it's just a matter of what your server can handle. Lag doesn't interfere with server-side timings as long as it's vanilla. There isn't any difference in the edge of loaded chunks, other than simply loading more chunks. But if the flying machine crosses over into those chunks, they could get unloaded by the 45sec autosave. If a piston was powered, but got unloaded in the same tick, it will forget to extend when it becomes reloaded, which would cause issues.
@TrypticOwen
@TrypticOwen 7 жыл бұрын
Sounds like synchronising a couple of flying machines to move together should be pretty reliable, then. Thanks!

well the viewers who enjoy this current content of his would be the losers. Flattening huge parts of land is very time consuming thats why they always have multiple people doing stuff on scicraft, if he would go to hermitcraft and start building huge farms it would definitely take from his time working on other projects. I mean the guy has irl job, youtube isnt hes carreer, hes just making these videos because he enjoys it. Besides he already has a survival server series where they go balls to the walls with industrial minecraft. So there isnt anything new interms of consepts to be gained by going to hermitcraft. He is currently making multiple videos weekly with every single video having a new interesting concept or expanding on old ones. I don't know what more could i ask for from a guy who is spending his free time to edit, record and render these videos, one of the reasons i subscribed to him originally.

0:50-0:51 happens very fast and the camera angle is moving and the background is featureless, so it's not clear what movement is happening even going frame by frame. Could be the middle stack moves left and then right or it could be ... something else. Like I said, hard to see. (edited:) Overall, great video. I learned more than from most flying machine videos. Especially, starting at 1:11.

1:11 is clearer. Still not a great setup for clarity, but frame by frame it's very helpful. I don't get why the first piston doesn't extend again immediately instead of being pushed by the one on the left.

Oh man what a great tutorial. I had thought about teaching myself about how the flying machines work by testing and observing. However I was always too lazy. This is such a great tutorial and I will likely return to watch it again for a refresher course.
