Could you do a refresher on how your long cast rigs are set up? I would like to have a good look at the release system that keeps the weight and bait flying in an optimal aerodynamic fashion. I haven't been able to find any here in Indonesia but I'm fairly certain I can rig it up myself with materials available locally. I've already started making my own dingle dangles based on your previous tutorial. Thank you for all you do.

Nice little Die Plaat cob.Just one concern.Doesnt the sand or rocks( on which the fish lies while being tagged) destroys mucus on scales thus making it easier for bacteria to attack fish thus making the release actually useless.Hope Im wrong.

Hi Henry, ideally you dont want the fish to flap around on hot dry sand or rocks which will definitely damage the mucus on its scales and even if so is not a reason to give up on releasing the fish as there survival chances are high. First prize would be a rock pool or wet towel to place the fish in order to reduce damage. In this situation the kob was placed on damp sand just a few meters away from the surf and Deon ensured his hands were wet with sea water before dealing with the fish. Kob are under serious threat as a population here in SA and we all need to do our part in helping them out where we can.
