As an atheist I don't think I can be a Sikh, but I'd much rather the west be Sikhi than Christian. It's just a better religion!

I am happy to see the way you are making world know about Sikh, Sikhi and Khalsa ( Khalas). The only point were i have different point of view is about ' Kirpan '. In today's world it is not to be carried by you and women always. Are history had a very different reason to' 5 K '. All are true by your explanation. But ' Kirpan ' more is to keep strength ,confidence ,character and hon-our in you . You Live by Hon-our and Die by it . For safety of women they can keep any weapon which is allowed by the law of their land like 'kirpan' in old times . Thank you ....

No dreadlocks? Please explain this further. I have dreadlocks and I have plans to take Amrit Sanchar. Will I be asked to remove them? I know the thought surrounding dreadlocks is that they are dirty and unable to be truly clean. I can personally attest that this is a huge misconception. I created&I maintain my dreadlocks. I have also cut off and open up a few to too see if they were indeed clean, and yes they were. I'm a very clean person, according to family&friends overly so. I'm very curious to know the Sikh thought about dreadlocks. I've met a few Amritdhari Sikhs who have dreadlocks.

Bhenji, the Kanga (comb) is one of the 5 Ks and it means that a comb should be able to go through your hair. Now someone who is from an african caribbean background may decide of use braids as its hard for them to comb their hair, but still a braid can be opened up, but a dreadlock is not something you can open up easily. You woul dhave to comb and untangle the dreads, especially at the Amrit Sanchar.. following that, if you braid your hair, its your choice but you should frequently wash and comb your hair.

My dreadlocks are 3yrs old, it is impossible to untangle them at this point. I would have to cut them off. I have read that some ladies were able to untangle their dreadlocks with conditioner and days of careful work. My hair is not that yielding. I am from a multi racial background, namely: Comache&Apache, African American, and Mexican. I have super thick hair, hair upon hair. Amrit would have a better chance reaching my hair via dreadlocks than loose hair. My hair is at its height of health and fully intact, since birth. And I was born shiny bald, without so much as peach fuzz. I've never had much use for combs, far too damaging to my hair. The less manipulation the better, for my hair texture. Now I can have a special kanga made that would pass through each dreadlock while keeping each dreadlock intact...if that's an option I have? So my last question Bhai, is it my command to remain without Amrit as long as I have dreadlocks? I have forsaken all other doors, for His door. Where do I go from here? What is your suggestion Veerji?

BullZZie howdy hey😊 While I'm very fond of Sikhi and loved the time I spent studying with Sikhi, I have chosen another path that honors my ancestors. My decision was not impacted by my hair, just to be clear😉 It is possible to receive Amrit Sanchar with dreadlocks, with those who are willing to give it.
